Show AHEC Sponsors LPNToRN Meeting PANGUITCH - Southwest Utah Area Health Education Center (AHEC), and the Weber State University Outreach Nursing Program are holding an information meeting Thursday Apr. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Garfield Memorial Hospital for nurses interested in furthering their education. The meeting will discuss dis-cuss an opportunity to advance from a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to a Registered Nurse (RN). Many people are unaware of the different levels of nursing in the medical field. A nurse begins with basic training as a certified nurse's aid and then can move up through the profession. Nurses might want to broaden their scope by advancing their education. Many new areas open up to nursing students with an advanced degree such as a Bachelor's or Master's. Administrative responsibilities, research, consulting, teaching and clinical specialization are career paths nurses can pursue with an advanced degree. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss options and answer questions for anyone interested. For further information, please contact Pam Hugie at 801-626-6124 or Aiko Flowers at 801-626-6134. The Utah Area Health Education Center, based at Southern Utah University, works with rural communities to increase access to healthcare through education. AHEC acts as a liaison between higher education, edu-cation, health profession programs pro-grams and rural communities. For more information, please contact AHEC, 1-888-89-RURAL. |
