Show New Music Group In Tropic Take three portions of top-notch top-notch country music talent, add some nonsense and what you get is a delightful trio of country music entertainers: 'The Cowboy Dave and Friends Band'. It started in Tropic, . Utah,, when new resident, Dave Maiville, was inspired by restaurant restau-rant owner Mike Ahlstrom, to start singing old country western favorites. After a summer season sea-son of experimentation at Ahlstrom's "Hoodoos" restaurant, restau-rant, Maiville, who was renamed "Cowboy Dave" by some children chil-dren who heard him sing, decided decid-ed to form a recording company and created "Bryce Canyon Country Music" a collection of songs most requested by tourists to the Bryce Canyon National Park area. In the last two winter seasons Dave has toured on the west coast and has now picked up his friends, "Grinnin" Gary , Slaven, bass player and "Johnny M" Mahaffey, former steel guitar gui-tar player in Hollywood and Nashville. Together they will be playing venues in Arizona and California this next winter. So if you hear some country music coming from the hillsides above Tropic this summer, it's probably proba-bly Cowboy Dave and Friends rehearsing out on the porch. And it started in Tropic! |
