Show Marlene Haws 826-4859 Clella Woolsey's doctor sent her to Cedar City for tests. Her daughter, daugh-ter, Judy Ludgate, took her down. She ended up taking her to the hospital hos-pital in Panguitch the next day and, at this writing, she is still there. Mary Ellen Coleman received word of the death of her sister-in law LaVoy Mclnelly Chugg, Hurricane. LaVoy has been ill for a long time. She was born in Escalante to John Henry and Vilate Twitchell Mclnelly. Our condolences condo-lences to the family. By the time you read this the presidential election will be over. I have just one question. Did any of you vote for Rush Limbough? Berniece Wilson is home, after spending the past four months in Alaska with son, Robert Wilson and family. She did a lot of fishing up there and caught BIG fish, but wasn't able to bring any of them home so she can't prove it unless she has pictures! Lola Alvey came down from Mapleton to visit her mom, Eva Dean Liston, while Jim Alvey and the boys went hunting in Colorado. Jim's and Lola's son, Shaun, just received his mission call to Brazil. Arlis and Melba Brooks have a See Escalante News On Page 3-A Escalante News ! (From Page 2-A new grandson, born to Dale and Sandra Alvey of Phoenix. Dale is a son of Darrell and Dianne Alvey who also live in Phoenix now. Ushur and LaPriel Spencer went to Cedar City to celebrate LaPriel's birthday with her family. LaPriel's son, Stephen White came from Yucaipa, Calif, to be with her for the occasion. The family is looking look-ing forward to having their missionary, mis-sionary, Daniel White, home from Russiain time for Thanksgiving. Dudley and Hazel Spencer, Frank and Leslie Venuti and family attended the volleyball tournament in Milford. From there, they went to St. George to visit Roy and Megan Boler and Afton Venuti. Then, on to Las Vegas, Nev. where they boarded a plane and flew to Danville, Calif. There they attended at-tended a reunion-birthday party for Hazel's sister-in-law, Patricia Sanborn, did some sight seeing and came on home. Alan Bailey is being transferred from Texas to Phoenix. He called for his dad, McKay Bailey, to bring the truck and help him move. Ross and Nadine Shelley have been busy moving into the Ron Schow home and trying to get settled set-tled in before winter comes to stay. Andy Smith has been living in the Schow home, but has taken his family back to Mesquite, Nev. to live, where he grew up. His sister, Crystal went along also. Max Porter took a one day trip to Richfield. On the return trip, over Boulder Mountain, he ran amix with a deer. It jammed his new car up pretty good in the right ; headlight area. Norman and Ardis Christensen ' joined the Arthur and Julie Lyman family of Boulder and all went to Salt Lake City to see Jared Lyman off to Tulsa, Okla. where he will serve an LDS mission for the next two years. Dan and Lois Spencer joined the Theron and Chris Jensen family of Mesquite, Nev. and also journeyed to Salt Lake City to see Chad . Jensen off on a mission to the Dominican Republic. Dan and Lois Spencer and Ross and Nadine Shelley hosted their annual an-nual Halloween party at the home of the Spencers. Guests included Jerry and Sheree Roundy, Al and Lani Barlow, Clem and Donita Griffin, Bob and Mavis Munson, Marvin and Gloria Porter, Vergean and Carolyn Porter, Lewis and Jean . Griffin, Garneal Smith, Keith and Linda Carter, Howard and Sandra Miller and Wayne and Pat Banks came up from St. George. They had the annual birthday cake for Al Barlow but didn't say whether any spooks jumped out of it or not! Escalante residents have kept the Panguitch hospital in business this past week. Thelma Cottam, Marty Ormond and Fontella Mecham fol lowed Dr. Henrie back to Panguitch after the clinic on Friday. Thelma and Marty came back home the same day, but Fontella had to stay. She is doing better now. I visited the hospital off and on all week so can report on most of the patients first hand. In the care center, Martha Twitchell really looks good. Cora Shakespear is holding her own and Ramona Alvey is doing well and seems quite content. con-tent. Roland Bee is doing well and checks on all the Escalante patients each day. Clella Woolsey was having hav-ing kind of a rough time but, hopefully, hope-fully, will be feeling better by the time you read this. Ivan Willis looked good, had his broken foot propped in the air and was eating Halloween candy ! Word was received, by relatives of Reuben Cottam, that his wife, Thelma, 80 years old, died in Salt Lake City. Many of us had Thelma as our teacher in elementary school. Our condolences to the Cottams. Arnold and Deon Alvey have been to Las Vegas, Neva, again, This time to do some Christmas shopping with their kids. They stopped off in St. George for lunch with their grandson, Danny Duncan, who is attending college there. Danny is a son of Brad and Janeen Duncan of Loa. Beryl Shurtz visited with some tourists at the Cowboy Blues Restaurant the other day. In the course of the conversation this is the story he told them. "Y'know over around Cedar City they have Zion, Kolob and Enoch. You'd almost al-most think it was heaven. And around Escalante here we have Devil's Rock Garden, Hell's Backbone and now this darn thing Clinton had made !" |
