Thanks to the kind lady who weeded the flower beds at the Panguitch Middle School from the faculty, students and staff. They know who it was and she knows who it was. The fall flowers all over town are in full bloom now but they may not last long. Monte and Cleo Marshall attended at-tended the wedding of their granddaughter, Nancy Pearson, last week in the Logan LDS Temple. Nancy, daughter of Mary Lou and Craig Pearson of Doda Springs Ida., married Wade Saunders of Georgia. The. young couple met while attending Ricks College last year. A lovely dinner din-ner was hosted by the grooms parents in the Juniper Inn in Logan Lo-gan and a reception was held in their honor in Soda Springs the same evening. Monte and Cleo also spent time with Cleo's sister and brother-in-law Leslie and Camilla Tebbs Henrie, formerly of Panguitch, now of Ogden. They were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with a family fam-ily dinner and party. Leslie has had surgery on both knees, but he is getting along quite well. Henry Jolley, former Garfield County School Superintendent was here visiting with his father Earl Jolley, in the Care Center. The Henry Jolley's live in Beaver and although he says he is retired, he is still working and they are building a new home threre. The mission farewell for Elder ' Tyler Owens was held in Panguitch Pan-guitch 2nd LDS Ward Sacrament meeting on Aug. 31. Speakers were Karli, Kasey, Austin, mom and dad Gary and Karla Cooper Owens; Elder Owens, Bishop Del Hulet and Bishop Kenneth Miller. Grandparents and great-grandparents great-grandparents in town are Vici Sargent and Devon Owens, June and the late Gren Owens, and grandma Irene and the late Dell Cooper. A few among the many folks here for the farewell and for the Labor Day holiday were Terry Cooper; Ike LeFevre's daughters, La Raine and Raylyn; June's kids Brent and Eveline; Cecil Lynn; Lesa Owens Pollock; Lucille Miller and many more I can't remember. Sustained to positions in the Second Ward were Janice B. Hatch, Sunday School, and Dick Excell, ward mission leader. Luke Tebbs, son of the Mike Tebbs graduated from Primary and ordained a Deacon. New presidency of the LDS Care Center Branch are Max Sevy, Devon Owens and Bob Smith. The Panguitch 1st Ward party was held in Bear Valley, where the wives of the pioneers who took part in the historical Quilt Walk were honored. A Dutch oven dinner was served. Bob and Jaunita Smith had his sister LaRue and husband Reed Jensen here from Santaquin. The Smiths spent five days traveling around places they hadn't seen in Central Utah such as the Cooper Mines, Delta, Heber, etc. George Proctor's 85th birthday was moved up by his four kids from Sept. 13 to Labor Day. The kids were all here, as well as grandkids, and great-grandkids. George said, with a grin, that it looked like from Connie, Colleen, Ron and Jim, there must be 400 kids there. About 35 of the group went rock hunting, which is one of grandpa George's favorite hobbies. hob-bies. The family also painted their folks' house completely and replaced the windows with beautiful beauti-ful big ones. That's quite a birthday birth-day gift. Elder Issac Mathews LDS mission farewell was held Aug. 31 in Panguitch 4th Ward Sacrament meeting. His brothers and sisters, Kerby Hansen, Celia Beard, Ben Shroff and Alicia Mathew gave talks. Alicia and Whitney sang a song. Mom and dad, Lonnie and Bill Mathew spoke and a musical musi-cal number was sung by Issac and Alicia. Concluding speakers were Elder Mathews and Bishop Kelly Holman. The Paul Dastrups are moved into their new home next door to the George Proctor's. Hope Goulding had visitors Marilyn and Stan Schenk of Po-catello, Po-catello, Ida. and Kelby Higbee. They are Aurelia Adair's children. (See Panguitch News On Page 3-A) .. Panguitch News From Page 2-A Panguitch native Silas Crosby had died and will be buried in Bennion. Brothers Art and Jay Crosby and families went north for the funeral. Jim O. Henrie suffered a heart attack and was life-flighted to Salt Lake city for a triple bypass. Maxine Henrie has been very ill but is feeling better now. Native Delia Houston, 92, wife of the late Stiener Houston, died in St. George where she has lived for a number of years. The funeral and burial will take place there. She is survived by 46 grandchildren, 140 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and 15 great-greatgrandchildren. Another Panguitch native, Nellie Sargent Heywood, wife of the late Jim Heywood, celebrates her 89th birthday on Sept. 15. She lives in Cedar City with daughter Janice. They will go to California to stay soon. Panguitch High School's opening open-ing social started the year with a girls volleyball game with a team of freshman girls from Cedar City. It was most interesting for me as I had never seen a volleyball game with such energy, speed and activity. ac-tivity. It was very interesting among the players and cheerleaders cheerlead-ers on both sides. A party followed fol-lowed the game. |
