Show Escalante News By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Thais Griffin and her sisters, Beverly Crosby and Winona Sevy, Panguitch and Ardith Davis, Orem, have just returned from another two-week tour. They went to Nauvoo, 111., visited the LDS Temple In St. Louis, Mo., the LDS Temple in Independence, Independ-ence, Mo. and also did a tour of Branson, Mo. where they took in a show by the Presleys. By the time Thais got back home she had covered 4,000 miles! Reports are that Ushur and LaPriel Spencer are both improving improv-ing and will soon be able to leave the hospital and be with their children in the Provo area. Karl and Anne Spencer have been back and forth since the wreck taking turns, with Patsy and Garl Cottam, staying with Ushur in the hospital. Thelma Marsh has two new great-granddaughters. Their fathers fa-thers are Glen Woolsey and Dean Woolsey, who are the sons of Dr. Warren and Kathleen Woolsey, all of Cedar City. Helen Shurtz came home, from Casper, Wyo. with her foot in a cast. She had her foot operated oper-ated on. She stayed a week then her daughter, Susan Wilson, who took her to Denver, Colo., where they attended the wedding of Jonathan Cowles, in the Denver LDS Temple. Helen then returned re-turned to Casper, Wyo. to spend some more time with daughter, Sara Cowles. She must like it up there! Lewis Griffin was invited to the home of his son and daughter in-law in Provo on Friday ,Aug. 22. When he got there, it turned out to be a surprise party in honor of his 70th year! Alan and Regina Griffin hosted the party, but Jean Griffin and the rest of her family had a hand in it also. Happy Birthday, Lewis! Shaun Coleman left last week for Ft. Sill, Okla. where he will begin a four-year stint in the Army. He was accompanied to the airport by his parents, Curt and Dianne Richins, his grandmother, grand-mother, Darlene Pierce and sisters, sis-ters, Shalayne Coleman and Megan Me-gan Richins. Shaun is also the son of the late Lance Coleman and a grandson of Frank and Kathryn Coleman. Mel and Vaunie Richins are home from Arizona, where they spend their vacation every summer. sum-mer. They stopped for a couple of days and visited with son and daughter-in law Dave and Linda Richins in Pine, Ariz, before going go-ing on to White Mountain, Ariz., where they spent three weeks. They attended the Richins reunion reun-ion there, then on their way home, they stopped off and spent a couple more days with Dave and Linda again. Vaunie says she wanted to stay because when she got home, the work started again cleaning up, catching up and canning! Darlene Edmiston went into the Dixie Regional Medical Center, Cen-ter, in St. George, last Tuesday, where she had hip replacement surgery. Her husband, Mac Edmiston Ed-miston stayed with her until she began to feel better then came on home. She is doing well and we hope this will make her feel a lot better than she has in the past few months. Fay Alvey and LaRue Spencer went to Panguitch last week and had cataracts taken off their eyes. They should be seeing things in a whole new light this week! Ben and Renee Porter and Blake Robinson went to Tropic for a Robinson reunion. It was held at the home of Mateland and Ruth Baugh. Blake took a little fall down some steps, but he must be okay. (For More News Of Escalante, See Page 3A) Escalante News From Page 2-A Remember when Little Bo Peep lost her sheep? That was only one lamb! Dueane Dutton has lost seven - all in one herd. They seem to have disappeared into thin air. He would probably appreciate any information you might have concerning them. By this time, they are probably dragging drag-ging their tails behind them! |
