Show ft' AREA OBITUARIES Phil F. Alvey PAYSON Philo Freeland (Phil) Alvey, age 85, of Payson, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24 at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City from complications following surgery. Phil was born Feb. 22, 1912 at Escalante, a son of Thomas Henry and Marcey Ann Liston Alvey. Phil spent his early years in Escalante attending school there. He worked in the coal mines in Carbon County, later buying and running his own trucking business. Phil married Asenith Roundy, Nov. 18, 1938 and she died soon after. He later married Erma Wood, Oct. 26, 1940 at Price. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in June, 1963. Phil was an avid gardener. Those who knew him will remember re-member him for his beautiful produce pro-duce that he shared with his family, fam-ily, neighbors, and not only his friends, but everyone's friends. Phil enjoyed fishing, camping, and fly tying. He and his wife enjoyed many camping trips with his sisters. He was an avid Jazz fan and his grandchildren loved watching and cheering with him. Survivors include his wife, Erma, of Payson; a daughter and two sons: Phyllis and Kent Mclnelly, Panguitch; Gordon Phil Alvey, Payson; Ronald W. and Jennie Ruth Alvey, Springlake; 12 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters: Wanless Alvey, Escalante; Es-calante; Emma Balog and Mary Swain, both of Payson. He was preceded in death by four brothers. broth-ers. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday., Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Payson 14th Ward LDS Chapel, 110 South 300 West, Payson. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, from 7 until 9 p.m. or on Thursday afternoon from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. Burial will be at the Payson City Cemetery.
