Show I Tropic Hews By Louise Ott 679-8776 The back street is oiled all the way. It is such a nice drive now, not fighting all thai dust. There are a lot of beautiful gardens this year, in spite of the water shortage. The Tropic LDS Ward held their August meeting with a luau dinner held at Carol Stewart's. It was well attended and enjoyed by all. Visits Rhett and Lesa Wintch and family from Caliente, Nev., and some of their friends from Las Vegas camped out at Tropic Reservoir and then met with Rhett's parents, Kent and Betty Lou Wintch for the Cannonville Bear Festival and LDS church on Sunday. Blaine and Shauna Anderson were in Wisconsin at an air show for three days. Shauna said it rained one of the days, so they were only able to see two days of the show. They then went to Nauvoo, 111. to the Nauvoo Pageant. The Anderson's said it was a lot different differ-ent then the Hill Cumorah or the Manti Pageant. They had a nice vacation. Rita Heywood and daughter Megan stayed at Stan and Louise Ott's house for two nights. Keela Mangum, Iris Bushnell and Doris Lyles went to Grand Canyon National Park for a day. Keela's daughter Laycee was home for the weekend. Her other daughter daugh-ter Crystal Mortensen attended a required class for volleyball coaches in Cedar City. John Henry and Joni Lyn Mecham attended sister LaRue's wedding to David Berry. John and Joni's children Summer and Landon spent a week with aunt LaRue, then John and Joni met them in Richfield and brought home their niece and nephew Chrystal and D.J. to stay here for a week. Joni Lyn received word that her father had a heart attack. He was had several health problems and will have surgery in the future. Joni and her father had a good visit just a few weeks ago. Steve and Myrna Winters were n Lovell, Wyo. for a nephew's wedding and had a great visit with all of their family. Dennis and Brenda Shakespear and family vacationed in Yellowstone National Park. On their way home, they met Martin and Carla Ramsay and family and Vance and Jeanene Pollock and family for several days of fun and school shopping. The Shakespear's spent the night spent the night at Brenda's parents, Clare and Mary Lee Ramsay on their was home to Kanab. See Tropic News On Page 5-A 4 Tropic News (From Page 5-A) along with Vicki, Gayle Pollock, Scott and Marie Barton, Dorie Baugh, Ruth Baugh, Lonnie Pollock, Layne LeFevre, Carl Shakespear and Pat Shakespear. All of them learned a lot of interesting things. Jack and Janet Pollock were in charge of the Pollock reunion held last Saturday in Cannonville. On Aug. 17, there will be the J.R. Ott reunion. Lillis Francisco had daughter Pat and husband Wade Dotson and their daughters Tori and Jenna of Arizona visiting, as well as daughter daugh-ter Anita Iverson, husband Paul and their daughter Taylor. The whole family, including Lillis' other children, chil-dren, Marlin and Deann attended a family reunion on Cedar Mountain. |
