Show Pqngaitch News By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 We are still waiting for our usual rain storms that start by July 24. The lightning and thunder made it, but no raindrops. A little hail was reported by the Alan Talbot family when they came over Cedar Mountain to see his brother Steven Talbot and family, here visiting from California. Califor-nia. Steven and Susan and kids Justin, Amanda, Eric, Scott and Bryce spent several days of their vacation visiting Bryce Canyon and the Panguitch area before going to Pioneer Day events up north and enjoying time at Susan's folks' cabin in Idaho forest country. Scott Robinson's family was here with him to clean out his house to get it ready for sale. Scott is not able to stay alone because of age and health problems so he has gone to Idaho to live permanently with his son Gerald. We will miss you, Scott, and hope you will be well and relatively happy away from your hometown. We love you. On July 17, Clark and Gwen Frandsen went to Salt Lake City, so Gwen could attend a Utah State Department of Community and Economic Development awards luncheon. Both Gwen and her brother, Arlen Proctor, received certificates for 30 years of service to the state of Utah. They work for the Utah State Library bookmobile program and reached their 30 years mark in 1996. They each received a Bulova watch, along with then-certificates. then-certificates. Seventy-nine members of the Lawrence and Hazel Orton family spent three days at Red Point on Mammoth Creek having a fun reunion. They camped, visited, went tubing and swimming, fished, played volleyball, had paintball fights, rode in go-carts, and cooked dutch-oven meals of chicken, mutton and beef, and a lot of homemade bread with Denny Orton' s sausage gravy. Some of the kids who only know about electric refrigeration ran onto several watermelons cooling in the creek and proceeded to (See Panguitch News On Page 4-A) Panguitch News From Page 2-A beat thern to pieces with clubs. When asked why, they innocently explained that "they were in that dirty water so they couldn't be eaten." Family members from out of town included Debbie Robinson and family of Cedar City, Tone and Aimee Orion of St. George, JoAnn Jones' son Darrin and his son Dillon and Kizy Davis of St. George; the David and Mary Ann Orton family of Escalante, Judy Mann and family of Salt Lake City; Allen and Tammy Orton and girls of Kanab; Brent and Joann Orton's grandchildren Tonya and Toshe Hasse, who are Susan's children, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Tommy and Debbie Johnson of Ely, Nev. They all had a ball being together. Two floats in the Pioneer Day parade were made and occupied by two classes holding reunions. The classes of 1947 and 1957 were well represented. We're not sure which class was which but we did recognize May Sawyer, Lola C. Henrie, Lois D. Morgan, and several others on the two floats. Doyle and Kathryn Henrie Ipson just returned from their South Africa Johannesburg LDS mission. Doyle was the principal speaker in the DUP program. The program honored past and present members of the Panguitch Rhythm Rhy-thm Band, which has been active for 61 years. Nice going, gals. Many members of the Frank and Gwen Orton family were here for the wedding of John and Carol's daughter Candie and the mission report of their son Brody, who served in the Philippines. Mindy Orton and Sally Cooper gave a beautiful musical number together. Mindy played the violin and Sally sang to her accompaniment. accom-paniment. Wally and Lynette Orton and son Steven have moved to Tropic and are building a home there. Hugh Goulding has been gone and is enjoying gold mining in California. Class reunions, one under the direction of Kay Hatch and the other under Earl Roe, are in proqress. There are so many folks in town I hesitate to even try to name them so someone will just have to let me know who is here of your special interest. Donny and Cyndi Leach took their family north, to enjoy a day at Lagoon. Donna Osborn went to Orem to attend the funeral of an uncle. The David Savages have added add-ed an old fashioned ice cream parlor to their video store. Little Justin Mosdell is finally home after spending several weeks in a northern hospital following his premature birth. His parents are Jody and Melissa, Miller Mosdell. Grandparents are Wayne and Coleen Miller and Jerry and Laura Mosdell. Earl and Evalyn Roe's granddaughter grand-daughter Amber Lee Peterson of Panaca, Nev. who is a senior at Lincoln County High School, has been named Samsung American Legion Scholarship National Finalist. She will compete with others for one of 10 scholarships, each valued at $20,000. They were pledged by the company to honor veterans of the Korean War. Amber, who is spending the summer sum-mer in Panguitch, is employed at Arby's in Panguitch. The Lord is good, a strong-hold strong-hold in the day of trouble; and , He knoweth them that trust in Him.
