Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Thanksgiving is over and even before it came a few people had their Christmas lights up! A tree lighting ceremony was scheduled for Dec. 5, to light the big tree on Main Street. The information booth has lots of lights on it; city offices; telephone offices and senior citizen center are all aglow. So, if you don't have some Christmas shopping done, you are way behind schedule! Bill and Dawn Griffin had part of their family here for the Thanksgiving holiday. Boyd and Trudi Griffin, Cleveland; Evan and Nicki Excell, South Jordan and Steve and Patrice Eyre Centerville. Arnold and Deon Alvey went to Las Vegas, Nev. for turkey and to finish their Christmas shopping. They ran into Beryl Shurtz and Tom and Marilyn Jackson at Sams Club. They were also looking for the man in the red and white suit. Max Porter went North to Taylorsville to visit his children. They had a four generation get-together, complete with pictures, while he was there. Judilyn Christensen, St. George and Brandon and Kelly Stubbs of Cedar City, visited their parents, the Lynn Griffins, and attended the wedding reception for Chad and Jaimie Lyman. Then the whole Griffin family met at the home of Gary and Judilyn Christensen in St. George for Thanksgiving. Twila Mclnelly spent a week in St. George visiting with her daughter, daugh-ter, Grena Kay Searle and granddaughter, grand-daughter, Judilyn Christensen. Lynn and Judy Griffin are grandparents grand-parents again. Congratu-lations to them and to the parents of the little boy, Steve and Jill Pickett of Cedar City. Dan and Lois Spencer and Dan's mother, LaRue Spencer, spent the holiday in Mesquite, Nev. with family. Upon their return LaRue's son and daughter-in-law Larry and Verlaine Spencer, Brigham City, came to spend a few days with her. Melvin and Florence Alvey had their daughters here. Neuman and Lucinda Duncan of Cedar City and Rick and Helen Pruitt of Richfield. After they left Dan and Lisa Degraffenried of Kanosh spent one night with them. Dan has quit teaching school and is now assistant assis-tant manager of the Intermountain Fanners store in Delta. South Central Utah Telephone Assoc. Board of Directors and some of the employees spent most of last week in St. George attending seminars. semi-nars. Samuel Chance Luker visited his parents, Monte and Sylvia Luker, during the week. After he left Monte and Sylvia went to Bullfrog where Monte had been invited in-vited to be a judge. Instead of a festival fes-tival of trees, they had a "Festival of Boats" and Sylvia said it was a sight to behold. 34 boats participated partici-pated and the money they raised went to the Special Olympics. Jon and Jillyn Sorensen, Alan and Devyn Sorensen and Brandon Haws, Salina, spent Thanksgiving with the Klyn Hawses. They also attended the basketball tournament in Cedar City to watch our high school team play. Betty P. Alvey went to Richfield to visit her daughter, Christine Morrill and son, Sam Alvey, and help spoil the grandchildren grandchil-dren a little. She came home a day earlier than planned on account of snow. Dudley and Hazel Spencer returned re-turned from Branson, Mo. in time to have turkey with their family. They say it was cold and wintery in Branson, but they had a good time anyway. They celebrated their seventh sev-enth wedding anniversary back there. Congratulations, folks! Roy and Meegan (Venuti) Boler, St. George spent the weekend with Frank and Leslie Venuti. The Venuti's have Frank's father, Frank, Sr. of Newby, NY. here with them, so Meegan was able to become a little better acquainted with her grandfather while she was here. Clella Woolsey is home and acting, act-ing, looking and feeling a lot better. |
