Show BV Continues Winning Streak By John Yardley Bryce Valley High School continued con-tinued its winning ways over the weekend with a 77-69 win over Milford and a huge 62-58 win over Valley. Waylon Brinkerhoff pumped in 33 and Clint Brinkerhoff 25 Friday night, to lead Coach Greg Hughes team to a big win. Saturday was even better as BV outscored Valley 20-9 in the final period to defeat the Buffaloes. Clint fired in 22, Brandon Johnson 12, Waylon 1 1 and Tim Leach 9 in this important league victory that sets BV up for a solid second half of the season. Panguitch lost in overtime 67-60 to Wayne and then defeated Escalante 88-57 in their two games. PHS had the ball and a three-point lead against the former number one Badgers at Bicknell, before a turnover and final three-pointer by senior Beau Hunt sent the game into O.T. Justin Miller kept Panguitch in the game in the first half and finished with 19. Gaylen Dalton played very well in the post and ended with 14. Jeremv Withers hit six straight free throws down the stretch and had nine points. It was a disappointing loss for Panguitch, but they did play well against a good team on the road. Panguitch and Escalante battled to a 19-19 first quarter tie, then PHS edged up 39-32 at the half, before the Bobcats blew it open in the third period behind the three-point three-point bombs of senior John Hulet Hulet hit four on the night and fin -ished with 16 points. Jeremy Withers hit for three three's and finished fin-ished with 14. Justin Miller had his best all-around game of the season in rebounding and team play while scoring 13 and Gaylen Dalton knocked down 10 for the boys in blue. The Bobcats could not stop Escalante senior Garrett Cottam, who scored a game high 27 in a beautiful display of tough post play. Dusty Bamson hit for 1 1 . On Friday, Escalante fell behind 24-54 at the half before staging a furious comeback and losing 87-59 to Enterprise. Matt Fullmer had a fine game with 17 and Garrett Cottam continued his consistent scoring with 17 as well. |
