After these allocations were made, 15,643 permits were available avail-able for resident hunters to purchase, pur-chase, beginning at 8 a.m. April 21. Nonresident hunters were not able to purchase Southern Region nonresident general buck deer permits over-the-counter, as all 2,400 of them were allocated through the 1997 Utah Bucks, Bulls and Once-In-A-Lifetime Draw this year. For those interested in hunting buck deer in Utah, resident and nonresident Northern, Central, Northeastern and Southeastern region permits remain. Permits to hunt bull elk in the state also are available. Buck deer and bull elk permits may be purchased at Division offices in Ogden, Salt Lake City, Springville, Vernal, Price and Cedar City, and from 241 participating partici-pating license agents statewide.
