Show I Escalante News By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Escalante High School students, stu-dents, and teachers, can be seen all over town raking, mowing and cleaning yards to earn "Pride Points". Their efforts have really made a difference and boosted the morale of many older people who can no longer get out and do their own yard work. The winning class will get a trip to Lagoon. I say they all need a big pat on the back. Weston Johnson, son of Aaron and Michelle Johnson, Cedar City, is hospitalized in Cedar City with bad facial burns, sustained sus-tained after some homemade fireworks blew up in his face. Weston is the grandson of Robert and Louise Liston, Neal and Alberta Al-berta Liston and Jerald and the late Jeraldene Johnson, all of Escalante. Es-calante. Lee and Kathleen Williams recently returned from a trip to Hanford, Calif., where they spent four days with their daughter and son-in-law Jolene and Duen Mallard. Mal-lard. They brought a computer back with them and Lee is learning learn-ing to play games again. He is thinking of going back to school to learn some other tricks on it! Wallace and Darlene Woolsey have had most of their family here for a visit and a work day: sons Robert Woolsey, Salt Lake City; Boyd Woolsey, Parowan and Randy Woolsey, Riverton; daughter Sherry and husband, Bruce Bishop, Beaver; grandson Cory and wife Sarah Woolsey and two sons," also of Beaver; granddaughter grand-daughter and husband Kim and Alan Sawyer, S.alt Lake City; oh yes, and son Gary Woolsey and four kids, St. George. Her son Rick was the only one who was unable to be here. They spent a day building fence for Wallace and Robert and Randy made a trip clear to Oklahoma to bring him some sprinkler pipe. Wal- I lace still can't get around on his foot much after having it in a cast for months. Carrie Griffin just returned home after spending two weeks with her daughter and son-in law, Rhonda and Troy McMurtrey, in Idaho Falls, Ida.. She got to help spoil the new little grandbaby, boy number three, and see the McMurtreys new house. Martha Schow and her daughter, Stephanie Stepha-nie took Carrie up, and Cecil and Darrell Griffin and Debra Cronin went up and brought her home. Nellie Bailey has been in the hospital, for the third time this winter, with pneumonia. She is home now and has three good nurses: daughters Connie Jepsen, Carrie Griffin and Martha Schow so she should be feeling better in no time! Jerry and Sheree Roundy went to Provo for a reunion with the returned missionaries from the Sacramento, Calif area. This not only gave them a chance to see the missionaries, they were over when Jerry was mission president, but they were able to meet their families too and that was pretty special. The Roundy's also visited vis-ited in Logan and got to see their new grandbaby, who is the son of Brett and Alana Lange. Beryl Shurtz was in the hospital hospi-tal overnight in Panguitch. He is back home, but I noticed he has a new chauffeur so he isn't up to doing his own driving yet! Part-time residents from Provo paid us a visit last week, but I guess it isn't quite time to plant, water or work so they went north again. Lewis and Jean Griffin were here and so were Haws and Janet Porter and Kenneth Griffin. Bud and Montel Revord are here for the summer, after spending spend-ing the winter in Mesa, Ariz. Word is, they are planning to move back to Florida in the fall so they will be closer to their children. |
