Show Marjorie Irene Wood Leali i ESCALANTE Marjorie Irene Wood Leak, 75 of Escalante, died Mar. 21, 1999, in St. George. She was born Sept. 7, 1923, in San Bernardino, Calif, to Fremont Edward Ed-ward and Dorothy Mae Thompson Wood. She married Frank Raymond Leak, Oct. 25, 1941, in San Bernardino, Ber-nardino, California. He died Nov. 17, 1995. Marjorie and Frank lived in Bar-stow, Bar-stow, Calif, and Bull Head, Ariz, before moving to Escalante in 1971. She is survived by one son and one daughter: Charles Allan (Kathy) Leak, Barstow, Calif, and Nancy Sue (Edwin) Littlefield, Henrieville; five grandchildren: Ron (Susan) Harris, Lindy (Kurt) Bosco, Lori Leak, Ted (Erin) Hurst, Tami (Jason) Hall; and 11 great- grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Graveside services and interment were held on Monday, Mar. 22 in Escalante, with Wade Barney officiating. offici-ating. Mli-gleby Mli-gleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Alta Rose Johnson HATCH Alta Rose Leonard Johnson, 88, passed away Mar. 21, 1999 at her home in Hatch. She was born June 6, 1910 in Price to Andrew and Katherine Walker Leonard. She married Charles E. Johnson, Feb. 7, 1930 in Price. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1991. Alta and Charles lived in Price for five years before moving to California. In 1966, they bought land in Old Town Hatch and in 1990 established a permanent home there. She enjoyed spending time with her family as they camped, hunted and fished. She is survived by two sons: Everett Johnson of Hatch and Raymond Ray-mond Johnson of Vista, Calif; four grandchildren: Eve, Charles, Michael Mi-chael and Steven; one great-granddaughter, great-granddaughter, Casandra. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers and sisters: sis-ters: William, Derrel, Virgil, Leo and Gordon Leonard, Fonda Jensen, and Thelma Gardner. Graveside services and interment were held on Wednesday, Mar. 24 in the Hatch Cemetery, with Bishop S. Leland Riggs, officiating. officiat-ing. He was born July 18, 1916 in Panguitch, to Hannah Mae Excell and James William Dodds. He married mar-ried Alvera M. Braze on Nov. 28, 1945 in Long Beach, Calif. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. William was an excellent gardener. He enjoyed fishing -and golfing, and was a member of the VFW Lefthand-LeFever Post 9632. As a member of the LDS Church he cared for the Page Stake Orchard for many years. He was a quiet, meticulous man and a good father who raised four sons. Survivors include his wife Alvera Al-vera of Page, sons Phillip Dodds of Salt Lake City; James (Linda) Dodds of Page, Ariz.; Patrick (Suzy) Dodds of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Gregory (Jaque) Dodds of Salem, Sa-lem, Ore.; brothers and sister James Dodds of Panguitch; Bob (Mary) Dodds of Salt Lake City, Beth (Dee) Heywood of Panguitch; and Billy (Jo) Dodds of Elsinore; eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Mar. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Page LDS Stake Center, 1301 North Navajo Drive. Friends may call from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the chapel on Thursday. Burial will be in the Page City Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab. |
