Show i 1 Myrtle Gardiner Riggs PANGUITCH Myrtle Gardiner Riggs, 75, died July 1, 1992 at her home in Panguitch. She was born to Fredrick George and Amelia Batty Gardiner on February 14, 1917, in Panguitch where she attended school and spent most of her life, except for a brief span prior to her marriage when she was employed by the US Soil Conservation Service in Albuquerque, N.M. Myrtle married Jay A. Riggs September 3, 1940 on the Salt Lake Temple. They were wed for 52 years. An active member of the LDS Church, she held a wide variety vari-ety of church positions throughout the years. A dedicated wife and mother, Myrtle loved her home. She spent a number of years in the family business as bookkeeper alongside her sister-in-law. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Fred G. Riggs, Jacksonville, Jack-sonville, Fla., Joseph W. Riggs, Concord, Calif, and Ron Riggs, Panguitch;' four daughters, Mrs. John (Pamela) Yardley, Panguitch, Mrs. Howard (Patricia) Foy, Ponca City, Okla., Kathleen Riggs, Mona, and Mrs. Blaine (Martha) Ipson, Leamington; and 28 grandchildren. Also surviving is ong' sister, Mrs. i . Myrtle Gardiner Riggs Shirl (Elna) Fox, Circleville. Funeral services were held Monday, July 6, in the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Val Church officiating. A family prayer was offered by Fred Riggs and an invocation by Stacee Yardley. Barbara Heaton and Barbara Orton provided the prelude and postlude music. Vocal selections were performed by the children, the Panguitch Tri-Ward Choir, and her grandchildren. Tributes were given by Patricia Foy, Rebecca Riggs and Tony Riggs. Ronald Riggs spoke and Bishop Church gave the closing remarks. Jody Riggs offered the benediction with Joseph Riggs dedicating ded-icating the grave at the Panguitch Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Jody Riggs, Tony Riggs, Craig Riggs, Steven Riggs, Chad Riggs, Bryan Riggs, Adam Riggs, Willie Riggs, Luke Yardley, Eric Foy, Sterling Foy, Alex Foy, Phillip Ipson, David Ipson, Jay Ipson and Joshua Ipson. Pallbearers were Fred G. Riggs, Joseph Riggs, Ronald Riggs, John Yardley, Howard Foy and H. Blaine iDson. Chester Lay ESCALANTE Chester Lay, 82, died July 3, 1992 at his home in Escalante. He was born in Escalante January 22, 1910 to Frank Ellis and Maggie Davis Lay and was married March 22, 1956 to Ruth Greener in Fredonia, Ariz. Serving in the US Army, Chester was a WWII veteran. He was employed by the Bureau of Land Management as a cook and surveyor. He also worked as a prospector and cattleman, managed the Upper Cafe in Escalante for several years, and was a member of the LDS Church. His survivors include wife; a step-daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Barney, Escalante; four grandchildren; grandchil-dren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ben (Melva) Niewert, Burley, Ida. Funeral services were held in Escalante July 7, at the First LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Myron Cottam officiating and the" Escalante American Legion Post conducting military rites. Wilford Davies offered the family prayer with Keith Carter giving the invocation. Prelude music was provided by Susan Wilson with Delayne and Lynn Griffin singing a duet and Keith Carther performing a vocal solo. Speakers were Doyle Cottam, Farrel Roundy and Ross Shelley with closing remarks by Bishop Lloyd L. Stoker JUNCTION Lloyd Leone Stoker 87, died in Henderson, Nev. July 6, 1992. He was born June 19, 1905 in Junction to David William and Florence Snow Woolley Stoker. He married Hazel Juanita Lewis Jan. 27, 1927 in Junction. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 21, 1935. She died Jan. 12, 1990. He was a farmer and a sheep herder. He retired after 23 years with the U.S. Forest Service. He is survived by four children and their spouses: Leona and Loren Graver, Rexburg, Ida., Kenneth and Leila Stoker, Henderson, Nev.; Linda and Bob Barney, West Valley Val-ley City; and Roger and Naomi Stoker, Richfield; 14 grandchildren grandchil-dren and six great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Elmer Pearson, Junction. He was preceded in death by an infant son. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11 at 1 p.m. at the Circleville LDS Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary in ... Honorary pallbearers included Jay Porter, Thell Barney, Rodney Cottam, Shawn Mitchell, Terrence Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Brady Barney, Hayden Barney, John Greener and Ellis Greener. Active pallbearers were Dale Barney, Gerald Barney, Frank Branch, Jim Barney, Donnie Barney and Auggie Bernardo. J Li Lloyd L. Stoker Richfield on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at he chapel in Circleville on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Junction Cemetery. |
