Show Panguitch Man Guilty Of Child Sexual Abuse A Panguitch man, originally charged with rape of a child under the age of 14, a first degree felony, and two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, both second sec-ond degree felonies, entered a guilty plea in Sixth District Court on Monday to reduced charges in a plea agreement worked out between the defense and the prosecution. . The rape was alleged to have taken place in January 1992 and the sexual abuse counts in January 1992 and April 1991. Ryan Brinkerhoff, 19, Panguitch, Pan-guitch, in court for an initial appearance, ap-pearance, was represented by Richfield Rich-field attorney Marcus Taylor who told the court that his client had entered en-tered into the plea arrangement that morning and that an amended information in-formation had been filed dropping the rape charge and reducing the charges to two second degree felony counts of sexual abuse of a child. The first degree felony rape charge carries a 1-15-year prison sentence, with at least. one year being be-ing mandatory. The second degree felony charges carry a 0-5 year sentence. sen-tence. Taylor asked that his client's right to a preliminary hearing be waived and that arraignment take place immediately. Brinkerhoff entered a guilty plea and his attorney asked that the statutory time for sentencing be waived. Judge Don V. Tibbs ordered a pre-sentence investigation and assigned as-signed Adult Probation and Parole Officer Reid Bean to check into a special program. Sentencing for Brinkerhoff is set for Sept. 3. The case is being prosecuted by Garfield County Attorney Wallace Lee. |
