Show Annual Desert Downs Race Meet Post time for Escalante's annual Desert Downs Race Meet is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11. The annual race meet, sponsored spon-sored by the Escalante Riding Club, regularly draws many hun-dredsof hun-dredsof race fans. The weekend festivities will start on Friday evening, July 10 at 5 at the community center with a Lions Club-sponsored barbecued beef dinner with dutch oven potatoes, crisp green salad, home made rolls and dessert for only $5 per person. A dance later that night will top off the day at the old high school gym featuring Boyd Griffin Grif-fin and his Oak Creek Band, $5 singles and $8 couples. At the race meet, there will be concessions, and a handsome equestrian-theme queen-size quilt for some lucky winner. Donation Dona-tion tickets are available from Susan Cottam. |
