Show Capitol Reef Apricots Ready For Harvesting The annual apricot harvest at Capitol Reef National Park is underway according to park superintendent superin-tendent Charles Lundy. Apricots will sell for 50 cents a pound, S3 per half-bushel and $6 a bushel. This year a bumper crop of apricots apri-cots is available. The fruit is ripe on some trees now, with the crop expected to peak the week of July 13. The public is invited to harvest the fruit. Although the park provides pro-vides special harvest ladders safer than the average homeowner's ladder caution is strongly urged in all ladder use. Climbing the trees is not permitted. The National Park Service utilizes uti-lizes the receipts from fruit sales to help defray the costs of maintaining the historic orchards.
