Show By Ella Adair 679-8648 Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ott spent the weekend with the Wallace Otts. Mr. and Mrs. Dar Smith visited with the Earl Jolleys. Gregg Miles and sons, Christian, Chris-tian, Tanner and McKay spent three days with their grandmother, Ella Adair. Paul and Keela Mangum, Lynn and Sandi Murri, Mark LeFevre, Mike Ahlstrom and Gene Seiler were in Las Vegas, Nev. attending the Color Country Expo making participants aware of what southern Utah has to offer. The W.M. Mangum family held their family reunion Friday in Tropic. Children attending were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hobson and daughter and son-in-law, the Bob Bezants of Taos; Ward Mangum, Laura and Kent Cottam, and Paul and Keela Mangum. Paul Mangum, Crystal Mortenson and Ward Mangum were in Las Vegas, Nev. to watch Crystal's horse run a race on television. The horse previously pre-viously won two first places in the Wyoming Downs race held in Evanston, Wyo. The Bryce Valley High School class of 1963 held their reunion in Tropic on July 2nd. After spending the afternoon visiting at the high school, the group enjoyed a delicious deli-cious barbeque dinner at Bryce Pi-oncer Pi-oncer Village. Classmates and teachers present included: Laura Cottam, Gail Cloward, Betty Lou Wintch Hcpworth, Mary LeFevre, Carol Adair, Connie Robinson, James Dulton, Herbert Baugh, Lloyd Ott, Dean Shakespear, Max Rose, Steve Clark, Steve Goulding, Kerry Nelson, Mayo Rich, Afton Pollock, Dar Smith and Robert Goulding and their partners. Several former employees at Bryce Canyon National Park returned re-turned to present their old State Show on July 3rd and enjoyed a great reunion and barbeque chuck wagon dinner. Many old timers returned re-turned to share their memories of the old days at Bryce. Joe Ott, a former manager at the lodge was in charge of the reunion and days activities. ac-tivities. Those who saw the program pro-gram had an enjoyable evening. We should have more entertainment such as this program. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Shakespear visited with the Malen Mechams for the weekend. A mistake last week Marie and Jerry Zoncr, Las Vegas, and Judean and Danny Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Littlefield, Baton Rouge, La. and the Kathy Wallizer family visited with the Norman Little-fields. Little-fields. The Waldo Littlefield family held their reunion Saturday, Aug. 10 in the Tropic Town Park. The Amplus LeFevre family is in charge. The Robyn Griffin family spent the weekend with the Charley Fran-ciscos. Fran-ciscos. Mr. and Mrs. Jared Barton, who recently moved to Cedar City, dropped by and visited with the Berdcll Bartons. Jared graduated from Utah State University. Berdell and Carma attended his graduation in Logan, then helped him move his family to Cedar City. The Larraine Marshall family spent July 4 with the Bartons. Marie Barton had her mother visiting with her. Babies blessed in LDS Sacrament Sacra-ment on Sunday were Lee Ann Baugh, daughter of Dallen and Kalhryn Baugh; Jason Reid Harper, son of Clayton and Sheila Harper, and Jacob Alvey Syrett, son of Tracy and Eric Syrett. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Clarke had their children all in attendance at a family reunion in Elko, Nev. last week. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Chynoweth visited with the Jack Chynoweths. The Kenneth Wintch family were weekend visitors at the Kent Wintch home. Keela Mangum took the Bryce Valley High School cheerleaders to cheerleading camp at the University of Utah. Many visitors were in Tropic for the 4th of July and their names were not given to me and I could not add them to the column. Clayton and Sheila Harper spent the weekend at the Reed LeFevre home. Melda Davis was also there for the blessing of her great grandson. grand-son. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Ron McGee and Joe McGee spent the 4th of July holiday with Minnie Nelson and John and Marie Niemann. A missionary farewell for Shane Brinkerhoff was held on Sunday, July 1 1 in LDS Sacrament meeting. meet-ing. Lloyd Colvin and son, Greg were overnight visitors with LaRene Munson. The LDS adult family home evening group enjoyed a picnic Monday evening at the town park. Ella Adair was hostess and Minnie Nielsen assisted. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hey-wood, Hey-wood, California, spent two days visiting with the Stanley Otts. Visiting with the E.R. Shake-spears Shake-spears were Rhett and Christine Shakespear and granddaughter, Haley Ha-ley Hulet; Ed and Camille Shakespear Shake-spear and sons, Frank and Ernie Hotz; Ross and Luann Dodds and daughters Deann Dodds, California and Danny and Vickie Shakespear. The Layton and Thelma Jolley family spent a week in Tropic at the old homesite enjoying a family reunion. The girls were seen outside out-side under the trees busy quilting, actually completing three quilts while there; other family members enjoyed riding their bicycles, hiking the old T hill, visiting with relatives rela-tives and friends and reminiscing about days spent in Tropic as they attended school and grew up here. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Katie Thomas and her family at the loss of husband, Jim. He had been a respected businessman in our community for many years and will be missed. Congratulations to the boys who made the All-Star Little League Baseball team. Those from Tropic include John Shakespear, Shilo Richards, Oscar Word, Skyler Syrett, Shannon Pollock, Wayne Ott, and Kyler Brinkerhoff. The boys enjoyed playing in Milford against the home team and Enoch team in tournaments. The girls high school volleyball team also enjoyed playing in their 3-day tournament in Enterprise this past weekend. They are coached by Crystal Mortensen. , i |
