Show By Harriet Priska 826810 The new year dawned bright and clear, reflecting the hopeful outlook of some that 1993 will be a better year for all here in the valley. A light snow is now falling and as you read this column we will have passed through the potentially coldest part of the winter and while more storms are bound to come, we know that we have endured the worst of it. "I'm outa here," declared Thais Griffin as she and husband Gene headed for Mesa, Ariz, for two months. She gleefully continued to say that she was not taking any business books or anything. Hope they both get a much deserved rest. Pete and Verna Goetzinger took baby Jay to Shorewood, Wis., to visit Lee Alexander and John Alley Al-ley and great-grandmother Theresa Alley. They were thankful to have flown in and out of the Salt Lake City airport between storms. Jay was not too crazy about those take-offs take-offs and landings. But then, who is? Carolyn and Vergean Porter enjoyed en-joyed New Years visits from son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Shana Porter, Cedar City and daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Daryl Davenport of Summit. Grandma had a great time with all the kids. Hank and Naomi Bolton are still "ferrying" things out of here. Eighteen years worth of accumulating accu-mulating does not go so quickly. Jay Belbe of San Diego, Calif., has bought their place. Jay works at Turn About Ranch and is really looking forward to making his home here. The Escalante High School Booster Club is still seeking donations dona-tions for a custom built, multi-station weight lifting outfit. It will be housed in the weight room at the high school. In addition to high school use, it will be open to the public. Ten to 18 people will be able to use the equipment at one time. A grant has been offered and matching funds must be raised. If you are able to contribute, please contact the high school or Julie Griffin. |
