Show Girls Basketball Season Tips Off By John Yardley The Escalante Moquis made history on Friday night in Panguitch as they fielded their first girls basketball team in; official UHSAA play, The Lady Moquis, coached by : the husband and wife team of Frankie and Angic Alvey, made their first team appearance on the PHS hardwoods. Though not successful against what may be one of the finer Lady Bobcat teams in some years, it was at least a start Panguitch coaches Curtis Bamcy and Scott Christensen bring a strong team of rcturing veterans. Senior Amanda Talbot hit for 17 points, while fellow senior Alcsha Richards and new Bobcat Jennie Poll each scored 14 in a well-rounded well-rounded attack for Panguitch. Lisa Rollins led the Lady Moquis with 1. The Lady Mustangs of Brycc Valley also started their first season of play against the Milford Tigers. Although the girls fell to Milford 31-24, coaches Cam illc Mecham and Jessica Palmer said they played really well for their first game and should have a very promising program and alot of talent showing up by the end of the season. We look for some real improvement from the Escalante and Bryce Valley girls as they get their "feet : wet" with experience. Good luck coaches and their squads. As for Panguitch, they may indeed be, "knocking on the door" of respectability in girls 1-A. They have some fine talent with solid fundamentals and about four years of ymmg talent on the way. |
