Show - Panguitch Fatter - Mamie Talbot The lovely spring weather has brought about a rash of traveling on -the part of local people. A busload of the older generation enjoyed a day's trip to the south, with stops in St. George, Pipe Springs National Na-tional Monument, Colorado City and Kanab. It was interesting to note at Pipe Springs how many of the pioneer relics the older folks could identify and had used in their growing-up-years. The sight of blooming and leafing trees was welcome to the north-slope folks. The Gale Wilcocks took Von Daly and Lena Miller to Cedar City for a day away. The Hal Wilcocks were here from Wyoming. Hal took Gai, Gale and Dane to Kanab to visit with family members. Norma Talbot went back to Wyoming with Hal and Roma for a stay. The Virgil Andersons celebrated their wedding anniversary with a trip to Salt Lak City which included includ-ed a checkup on Virgil's eyes. The Afton Julanders and Nin Millers went to St. George for temple work and stopped in Cedar City for business purposes. A group of Sevy cousins from Panguitch and the surrounding area held a get-together at the home of Mark Sevy in St. George. The Val Henries were here at the Lowell Henries to show off their haby girl and renew ties with mends. Several carloads of young people went to the Bellamy Brothers concert con-cert in St. George, thanks to dads who drove them down. The Grant Houstons went to novo for the blessing of granddaughter grand-daughter Kelsey Hiskey, daughter of ne Bruce Hiskeys. Mrs. Hiskey is he former Lana Houston. The lamily was joined by the Kelly , Houstons of Ft. Collins, Colo.; ; yan Houston, Cedar City; and B1ack of Henderson. Lana and i why returned to Panguitch for a week's stay, then all the Houston ily went to Henderson to celeste cele-ste several birthdays before the Houstons returned to Colorado. Col-orado. Maurine, Kelly's wife, who originally from Georgia especially liked the very warm Nevada weaihpr The Chuck Hepworths were in Mesquite to spend their wedding anniversary. Hope Goulding weni to Cedar City with the group oi people going to the LDS church cannery. She then stayed to hear the mission report of Michael Goulding, Gould-ing, son of the Jim Gouldings, who served in Indiana. Hope also visited with Hope Wintch, Aurelia Adair and Aurelia Bauer and got to see two new great-granddaughters. The group going to the cannery included members of the three Panguitch wards and the Hatch wards and was the last group to use the cannery before it closes. They are hoping to be able to join the Milford wards to can chili next Saturday if possible. A very special program and dinner din-ner celebrating the Reilef Society's 146th birthday was attended by a crowd of nearly 200 women in the stake center. The program highlighted high-lighted women at different stages in their lives, in both humorous and serious ways. Author Renee Nolan and all who took part did an outstanding out-standing job in pointing out that one woman's spirit and mind can touch and bless thousands of lives. Joan Norton has been on a two-week two-week trip to China and Taiwan with her folks the Laine Nortons and brother, David Norton. Joan served an LDS mission in Taiwan several years ago. The Phillip Baileys of Milford, Kylee Bailey, Kristen Bailey, Bai-ley, Bryce Bailey and Courtney Bailey visited with the Jay Crosbys to check on their dad who is recovering recov-ering well from surgery. An LDS region mission fireside in the Panguitch Stake Center was well attended. Elder Russell Taylor was the inspirational guest speaker and a large number of regional dignitaries dig-nitaries were here for the occasion. The Randy Hatch family gave the program in the Panguitch LDS Third Ward sacrament meeting and the Nick Reynolds family did the same in the Second Ward. The First Ward had ward conference with ward and stake leaders taking part and the choir presenting a medley of hymns. Norma Crompton has been spending some time with her sister in Dixie and with her daughter's family in Cedar City. Wallace Miller is doing well in Salt Lake City after a slight stroke, and his wife Billie moved up her checkup with her doctor so she can come home with Wallace when the time is right. Love and sympathy is extended to Mae Sawyer and family at the passing of husband and father, David, this past week. The John Hugheses have a new baby son, Shawn Phillip, born March 15. The baby has two sisters and two brothers. Grandparents are the Bill Hughes of Panguitch and Julia Bean of Nephi. Clella Harris and Ellen Laird of Junction stopped at Mamie Talbols for a brief visit on the way for a day of Spring at Bryce Canyon. |
