Show David Quilter Rose ST. GEORGE David Quilter Rose, 76, of Henrieville, died Monday, Nov. 18, 1991 at the Dixie Regional Medical Center, St. George. He was born in Henrieville Henrie-ville to Joseph Henry and Sarah Quilter Rose on September 24, 1915 and married Delpha Johnson on May 10, 1940, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. David graduated from Tropic High School and attended Brigham Young and Utah State universities, receiving his teaching degree. He was a principalteacher in several two-room schools Hatch, Henrieville, Soldier Summit and Boulder as well as teaching fifth grade at Panguitch Elementary and Bryce Valley schools. Rose was an educator known for his ability to teach with precision preci-sion across the curriculum. At the conclusion of his career, it was noted, that all of his students not only knew the multiplication table but could recite "The Village Blacksmith" and square dance. Especially interested in his students stu-dents with learning problems, he helped them to achieve the same goals as their classmates. He taught in the public school system for 34 years until his retirement in 1977. David also enjoyed being a small-scale cattleman and farmer, preferring horses the most. He served as Henrieville Town Clerk for many years and later served a term as mayor. Active in the LDS Church he served in the bishopric of the Henrieville LDS Ward and as scoutmaster for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Henrieville Hen-rieville and 13 children: Theron Rose, West Valley City; Verland Rose, Cedar City; Max Rose, St. ! Yv' j I, m in rn li ir 4 -- .-:J David Quilter Rose George; Mrs. Dan (Mildred) Chidester, Richfield; Milton Rose, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Kenneth (Artoise) Piatt, Henrieville; Collin Rose, Annabella; Mrs. Clifford (Collette) Mathews, Apple Valley, Calif.; Galen Rose, Vancouver, Wash.; Kerry Rose, Sandy; Mrs. David (Jeanne) Payne, Cedar City; Mrs. Robb (Loreli) Adkins, Boise, Ida.; and Daniel Rose, Henrieville. Also surviving are 65 grandchildren, grand-children, four great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Harry Rose, Milford and Hyrum Irving Rose, Henrieville. Funeral serves will be held Friday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. in the Henrieville LDS Ward Chapel where friends may call from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Henrieville Cemetery under un-der the direction of Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary. |
