Show By Mamie Talbot The Chinese elms had a hard time letting go of their leaves this year. When the other trees were bare, the elms held their leaves until un-til they were crisp and curled then suddenly began shedding them like rain. They must have been getting v ready for the heavy load of snow that came. Lowell Henrie is finally home after his life flight to Salt Lake City with a heart attack. Up there he had to put up with pneumonia and emergency surgery. Upon returning re-turning he went into the local hospital hos-pital for observation but is home now and recovering. H and R Building Supply is putting up new sheds to shelter their lumber. The home of the late Vic Orion got a new roof and the Cameron Hotel has had a pitched roof put over their lobby. It was good to get these things done before the snow fell. We hear that Peterson Oil Company Com-pany on Main Street has sold out and the big storage tanks there will be removed. Larry and Arva Frandsen had all their family, except Larry Jr., home for a surprise party on Larry's 80th birthday. They have 35 grandkids and 34 great grandkids. Arva says there are more coming up. Jerry and Jeannie Owens now own not only the former Than and Bell Cooper home, but have bought the 'Non' Judd home lot and the Lynn Dickensen home. The family of Norma Talbot sneaked into town and met at the LDS Stake Center to prepare for a surprise 75th birthday party for Norma. It was quite a job to keep her busy making quilts and away from the constantly ringing phone so she wouldn't find out, but they succeeded. She was shocked and delighted de-lighted when they got her to the stake center and 62 family members yelled "surprise" and sang happy birthday to her. Along with her own kids, were sisters Pauline Prince and Janice Bernson and brother Art Sevy with their spouses. Among them they really did make 3 quilts over the weekend. All of her descendents, except one were there. Steve and Nida McCullen from Colorado were at her folks, the Brent Ortons, to show off their new baby girl and have her blessed with the name of Kesley Debra McCullen. McCul-len. Former Panguitchite Pauline Worthen Royer was in an auto accident acci-dent and flown to Salt Lake City for treatment. She has been in a coma. Her sister Donna Marshall is there with her. LaVera Englestead spent her mother's 82nd birthday in Cedar City where Mable Norton lives at the nursing home. She reports a special party by the staff for Mable and appreciates the good care she receives. re-ceives. Wonderful. Kay and Neilene Heywood were happy to have son Bruce and Rita Heywood from Fallon, Nev., here over Veterans Day. They went with Heather Heywood to the St. George LDS Temple as she prepares pre-pares to serve an LDS mission to Nashville. She will enter the Missionary Mis-sionary Training Center on Jan. 8. Alta Orton's family gathered at Denny and Jean's home to celebrate their mother's birthday. Thirty-five members had a great time together. Happy birthdays to all our older generation. Where have the years gone? Acey Burningham, Alison Yard-ley Yard-ley and Landon Fullmer were baptized bap-tized in the LDS Church recently. In the Panguitch LDS First Ward Sunday School Phillip Blaise, Wallace Wal-lace Lee and Rex Sandberg were called to the presidency. Martin Nay is the new young men's presi dent. Terry Henrie was appointed as a stake missionary and ward mission mis-sion leader. Hilma Excell was the speaker in sacrament meeting; Skeet Houston and Lloyd Brinker-hoff Brinker-hoff were the youth speakers. The Charles Hepworths went to Clearfield to babysit the Bobby Owens children while the parents took time off to celebrate Bobby's birthday. Laura Julander and Hope Gould-ing Gould-ing went to Parowan to George and Dorothy Worthen Rowley's golden wedding anniversary party. All the Worthen brothers and sisters were there except Parley Worthen. Loyhove Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their November meeting. Marie Liston showed films of some of the pioneer style homes. Golda Julander gave the history of her great-grandmother. The camp has lost three of their members lately with the death of Elfa Tebbs, Sara Worthen and Florence Flo-rence Houston. Trevor Pollock, son of the Royce Pollocks, received the scouting scout-ing award "On My Honor." It is the religious award in scouting and takes two years to obtain. |
