The : date has been set for Oct. : 15 and plans are being : made for demonstrations : and exhibits depicting the ; Pioneer heritage of students and their parents. Purpose of the Heritage Festival is to help Panguitch Elementary students and all other children in the area gain an appreciation for their rich and colorful heritage. By having a "hands on" experience with history, planners reason that students can better understand and appreciate their ancestors and the past. Heritage Festival planners are seeking help from students and their families and from residents of Panguitch and nearby communities to participate with exhibit items and with demonstrations. Pioneer clothing, quilts, hand crafts, photographs are needed and sponsors are helping to find people to demonstrate shoe making, rope making, black smithing, bead work, home, made bread, cheesemaking, butter making, jellies, dried fruit, or historical items such as musical instruments, old songs or anything of a pioneer nature to contribute to the overall theme of the festival. Anyone interested in participating with donations or with demonstrations should contact Panguitch Elementary School at 676-2300 or Sandra Holman at 676-2268. Both children and adults are encouraged to participate and booths and space will be provided. |
