Show FmH A Head Explains Operation The ongoing services provided by the-Farmers Home Administration were outlined recently by FmHA Garfield County Supervisor Kendall Brinkerhoff for county residents. Currently in Garfield and Kane counties, FmHA a loan outlay of $13 million In short, Intermediate and long term credit serving farmers and ranchers. Another credit authorization which is significant in the two counties is the individual family housing program with current loan outlays for approximately $8 million. This does not include, Brinkerhoff said, the 30 senior citizens and family rental units in Kanab. Brinkerhoff said the FmHA also deals with loan guarantees in the business section similar to Small Business Administration and also loan guarantees to farmers and ranchers. Most noteworthy In the past few years is the financing of water and sewer sytems in the two county area, providing safe drinking water and sanitary conditions for water. Communities benefiting wholly or in part from FmHA in financing of culinary water systems are Boulder, Henrieville, Cannonville, Tropic, Glendale, Orderville, Mt. Carmel, Kanab, Glen Canyon City and Panguitch. Communities benefiting from sewer loans and grants are Tropic, Glendale, Orderville, Mt. Carmel and Kanab. Total outlay in both culinary and sewer loans is approximately $4 million. FmHA recently participated with the private bond market in the financing of the Kane County courthouse and the Orderville High School. FmHA loan commitments came to $1.3 million Brinkerhoff said. His report did not include the many millions of dollars loaned in years past which have been paid in full but contained only current amounts on loans. FmHA which was introduced and authorized during the great depression to help stabilize farms and ranches during that difficult period of time now has some 30 funding authorties but still must give first priority to farmers and ranchers within the limitation of lending allocations authorized by Congress. The agency requires that potential clients must not be able to find suitable credit in the private market at reasonable rates and terms. It is expected and agreed that when a client can pay off his loan be will do so, with credit supervision provided' for the client throughout the term of the loan Brinkerhoff concluded. ; 'G.W.
