Show Property Taxes Rise This Year Total property taxes charged for city, county, school, and other purposes in Panguitch rose this year by 2.46 mills, or 2.46 for each $1,090 of assessed valuation. Utah Foundation, the private tax research organization, reported the figure in their latest analysis of property tax rates in major Utah cities. Panguitch's overall property tax rate in 1982 is 56.69 mills ($5,669 per $1,000 assessed valuation). This compares with at total levy of 54.23 mills last year, In 1980, the Panguitch total levy was 50.62; in 1981, 54.23; and in 1982, 56.69. According to .the Foundation study, approximately 54.7 percent of the total property tax charged in Panguitch this year will go for school purposes, 27.3 percent will go for municipal purposes, 12 percent for county purposes, and six percent for special district purposes. A comparison of 1981 and 1982 levies by purpose in Panguitch shows the Panguitch municipal levy rose by only .07 mills while the special cemetery district remained the same and the county reduced its levy by .61 mills. The increase in the school levy was three mills, so even with the county's reduction, the overall raise was 2.46 mills. |
