Show Two Injured in Two Vehicle Collision An accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of two residential street points up the serious danger posed at uncontrolled intersections investigating officers noted. The accident took place at the intersection of 3rd East and 3rd North at 2:50 p.m with one driver taken to the hospital via ambulance and the other later admitted for minor injuries. Rita Miller, Panguitch, traveling south on 3rd East struck in the intersection, the vehicle of Karen Nay who was traveling east on 3rd North. Officers said the Impact threw Mrs. Miller onto the floor-board of her vehicle and her uncontrolled car careened into a semi-truck parked on the east side of 3rd East, back to the west side and struck a stack of oil drums, swung completely around to the north and struck a pickup truck parked on private property. Mrs. Miller was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She sustained broken ribs and a broken collarbone. Mrs. Nay was treated for minor injuries. Both vehicles were seriously damaged and possibly totaled. Investigating officer Otho Bulkley issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way to Mrs. Miller, Panguitch City officer Martin Nay, also at the scene of the accident, noted tliat Utah law states that the vehicle arriving at an unmarked intersection must yield to the vehicle on the right. He said that both drivers indicated they had been distracted by a youth riding a horse. Officer Nay said that with schools starting next week, local officers will be watching such intersections carefully for similar violations. He urged parents to instruct their children carefully about where and under what conditions to cross a street and how to properly ride their bicycles |
