Show More Candidates Added to Nov. 3 City Elections Three more Garfield County communities added their candidates to the list of those already filed earlier and to the list of those elected in the October 6 primary election, to make the final slate for the November 3 municipal election. Antimony, Boulder and Panguitch passed a resolution earlier in the year under recent legislative changes which permit small towns with limited population to abolish primary elections. Panguitch experienced one of the results of the new system which permits anyone desiring to run for an office simply to sign a statement of candidacy. Panguitch has two four year council posts open with nine people vying for the two seats, where, under the primary system only four candidates would be running. Only two have filed for the mayoral opening in Panguitch: Lorene Hep-worth and Jon Torgerson. Council candidates are James H. Excell, Brian Foy, R. Val Henrie, Vee Henrie, F. Grant Houston, Cark B. Howard, Barbara Orton Leach, Rick Swanger and Avonell Tebbs. In Boulder, Larry Davis and Donna Wilson will compete for the mayor's position and Anthony Coombs, Gladys LeFevre, Mark Nelson, and Steve Schauss will vie for the two four-year council posts. In Antimony Alma Lynn Savage, Richard Louvier, Wayne Delange, Herbert Gray Anderson will compete for two four-year council openings. A total of 11 people have filed for the seven mayoral openings, three unopposed. Thirty-four people will compete for the 20 council seats open. |
