Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair 679-8648 Virgil Pollock is a patient in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. Viola Marshall has returned home after spending the past three weeks in the Salt Lake City and Provo areas, visiting with her daughter Lucille Snow and sons Melvin, Frank and George and their families. Larry Adair was in Tropic on business. He visited with his parents while here. Ella Adair attended a Garfield County Golden Agers meeting in Panguitch, along with other county committee members. Following the meeting they enjoyed a dinner at the center in Panguitch. Several of the Tropic people are home with the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Gem Johnson attended a funeral in Hanksville for a relative last Saturday. The MonDell Syrettes w" in Idaho and Wyoi....- on vacation this past week. Lucy Shakespear had an appointment with the eye doctor in Cedar City, Vickie Ahlstrom and Dorie Baugh celebrated their birthdays this week. Ricky Bybee, Nellie Rae Mecham and Eva Pollock took fifteen of the Tropic ward young people to the St. George Temple Saturday to do baptismal work. Eva Dean and Charley Francisco attended the missionary farewell for their nephew in Cedar City. Pat Richards, Kristy Shakespear and Lorie Moss made a trip to Cedar City and took a box of goodies, also furnished entertainment, for the people in the Cedar Manor Home. This is a fine service that these ladies are furnishing for the shut-ins. Eva Dean Francisco, Margie and Margaret Mecham were in Cedar City on business during this past week. A bridal shower for Mrs. Tom Richards will be held in the Relief Society room Friday. Hostesses will be Alaska Richards and Paula Richards. David Frost, Herbert Baugh, Carl Shakespear, representing the elders quorum, and Scott Mecham, representing the youth of the ward, were the speakers in Sacrament meeting. Shelley Shakespear, small daughter of Franz and Margaret Shakespear, received a name and a blessing from her father during the meeting. Brant Barton and Shanna Higgins were in Las Vegas, Nev. over the weekend on business. Ben and Connie Dewsnup were weekend visitors at the home of their parents at Pink Cliffs. James and LaRene Munsons spent the week in St. George at the temple. LaVerne Ashlstrom enjoyed a visit from her parents and other family members, from So. Dakota, during the Christmas holidays. The E. R. Shakespears visited with their children in Cedar City. Wilford Riding, son of Bob and Elsa Riding, has received a mission call to the San Antonio Mission, for the LDS church. His parents were former Tropic residents and Wilford is known by many of the young folks in Tropic. |
