Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey We had some more snow along with rain. Qulnn Griffin came home on Wednesday and was out on crutches on Thursday. But the air was a bit too cool and he caught cold which housed him up a spell. His leg is doing okag. I Billy Spencer came through his surgery in good shape and the t doctors think he will heal up practically as good as new. Kathryn Coleman had major surgery Monday at - Utah Valley Hospital and came through it okay. Her daughter, Sharee, is with her and Sheri Michaelangelo has gone there to work, so we know she is getting personal care. Chester Lay is getting better; he would like to get out in the sun but the wind nearly blows one away. Nelda Willis spent a week in Beaver, helping out with a baby girl born to Lynn and Garna Mclnelly. Mother and daughter are doing fine now after some slight problems. Lillie Spencer got word she has another great-grandson born to Jeff and Dian Loosle. Ruth and Curly Hale came home to do some spring work, then Ruth went back to Hurricane to care for Hurly's father. Larry Hale and his Scottish bride Lorna, visited her at (jthe Masters home. They have been in Scotland getting her cleared to work in this country. They will live in Manilla. The Tom Sanborns had granddaughter Tamara here from Ricks college. She is enroute to California. On May 5 Helen Shurtz took Ethyl Griffin and Cora Shakespear to Salt Lake City to attend the testimonial for the Vernile Griffins. Helen visited daughters Marion and Cara. Then they came back by Provo to be treated by their doctor. Helen took them back this week for more treatments. " The Charles Whites had a visit from Clare and Ralph Stevens from California. Morris and Neta Shirts afe home after spending two weeks in Texas with Carol Joy and Art Cooper. Their grandson, Chris, who was a student at BYU, drove their'car to Texas and Art drove it home so they really enjoyed the scenery. They helped granddaughter Carman celebrate her 17th birthday anniversary and grandson Clifton his 14th. He was ordained a teacher. Carman has been, accepted into the National Honor Society which is equal to "Who's Who." Evelyn Foster and Mar Leak had animal business in Richfield. Wayne Button is home after spending 17 days in the hospital. He is graduating from college in business management this month. There have been so many stories about Arnold Button and the Lions that he came with some facts. Tom Hemker and Bruce Ackerman, two graduate students of Utah State in wild life resources came here to make a study on cougars. It is a three-year course tracking cougars on the ground and by plane. They plan to manage the cougars and regulate the number. They have seven specific animals under observation. Arnold catches them and puts on electronic collars which keeps track of their movements. Their territory' is from Main Canyon to Long Canyon, and they want to know how many animals the area can support. Arnold grew a long beard for the' winter activities and now that he shaved it off, he thinks the widows may think less of Wm. My advice Arnold is, "Stick to the cougars." Glen and Coleen Imaly brought Idella home to get settled in her house and attend the funeral services of Lizzie Baugh. Hap Imaly and wife were here from Ogden. They took Idella to Richfield to spend some time with La Vina Pollock who is not well. The program in Sunday School was appropriate for Mother's Day. The afternoon was the missionary report of Gary Lane Listen. The Donald Listons were here from Panguitch, the Malen Mechams from Tropic and the Gene Reeds from Monroe. Coleen Wayne had son GJen Griffin home. Hal and Geneal Shurtz had son Kay Lynn, Valeree and Stan Huntington from Cedar City. Marie Hall had Rulon and Marilla Jolly and some family members from Cedar City. |
