Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair The town clean-up and beautlfication campaign got off to a good start last Saturday. Many truck loads of trash were hauled off from person's property and work was done in the cemetery. This will go on for a week and everyone who owns ' property is asked to cooperate and help by cleaning up all trash,, broken fences and old machinery or cars from their property. Available equipment Will be in town for the use of those who need it. Carpet has been laid in the Scout House and all who use the building are asked to help to keep it clean. New drapes are in the process of being made, and this will help to make it a more attractive place to hold meetings. Carpeting was furnished by the senior citizens and Lady Lions afid the Lady Lions are making the drapes. The high school students held their annual B.V. Day Monday, with the whitewashing of the B.V. and a bikeathon to Kodachrome State Park, followed by games and a lunch. The James Thomas' had friends visit with them this past week from Happy Camp.in northern California. Louie and Alton Shakespear spent a day in Manti with their granddaughter Corrine and attended LDS temple sessions with her while there. Among those going to Cedar City on business this past week were Herman and Zora Bell Pollock, Erma Wintch and Mae Chynoweth. Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Bybee visited his sister Sharron and family In Hurricane. The Lady Lions entertained the Lions Gub members to a delicious dinner Thursday eveing. Films on Alaska were shown to the group by Lion Lorla. Thomas Hobbs attended a special National Parks meeting in Denver during the past week. Wanda and Jeannie Shakespear were In Salt Lake City on business. The Kay Mangums and David Frosts made a trip to Fredonia Thursday. 1 Dorl Baugh, -Shirley Hannah and Becky Atkinson attended the dance revue in Cedar City. Dori's brother, Wayne Goulding was one of the dancers. J.R. and Catherine Hale visited with the Lyndon Sudweeks family. Kim Ott spent the weekend with His parents. Melford and Rachel Ahlstrom made a trip to Salt Lake City for Melford to have a medical checkup last Monday and Tuesday. Douglas Ahlstrom was in Cedar City for a dental appointment for his son, also attended a five county association meeting to take plans for the Tropic proposed Park, and to file for the grant monies to complete the project. Mr. a'nd Mrs. Thomas Walker, former Bryce Canyon Ranger and their son Alan and, wife were visitors in Tropic last Saturday, renewing i acquaintances and ' visiting with friends. They are making their home In American Fork now that he has retired" from the park service. The Ursel Otts had their daughter Beth and daughter Laurie as weekend visitors. Also Lcola's sister, Zenda and husband are visiting in Tropic. Speakers in sacrament meeting were Monty Twitchell, Steffanie Munson and Lori Pollock. 1 Carol and Duane Stewart also gave a few farewell remarks as they are being transferred to Idaho, where Duane will work for the forest service. We will miss them from our community and wish them much happiness and good luck in their new home. Stacey Ott was graduated from Primary and received the Duty to God Trail award. He was also ordained a Deacon. Rett Shakespear visited with his parents, the E.R. Shakespears, Sunday. Gary Bybee spent Sunday at the Clive Bybee home. Vickie Ahlstrom enjoyed a visit from her parents and two brothers, the Cannons, from St. .George. The Howard Neilsens had his father visit with them over the weekend. Ruth Baugh and Keela Mangum were among those who made a trip to Richfield during the week. All Tropic former residents and present residents are to remember Tropic's birthday celebration on May 23rd ... a harbeque is being prepared as part of the celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff Pollock visited the Gene' Chynoweth family. Shirley Haycock is in Las Vegas with her daughter Garna Kay who has a new baby girl. The MIA girls held a special program and party for their mothers and grandmothers last Tuesday evening in the church. Beatrice Barton had all of her family, members home over the weekend for her mothers funeral services. The ClarC Ramsays spent Sunday in Or-derville. The Ray Littlefields spent last Friday and Saturday in St. George. 'Ella Adair attended a meeting in Beaver for the five county committee on aging. Sonia and Lynn Allen visited with the Royal Alveys and Truie Allen for Mother's Day. The Herman Pollock '.'I enjoyed a visit from son ! Gary and family.
