Vera Davis is in the 1 l)S Hospital in Salt Lake City recovering from surgery She came through it and is apparently doing fine. Gurena Robinson spent several days in Garfeild Memorial Hospital, then stayed briefly in Tropic at the Mate Baugh home Blake brought her home on the weekend. The Sox Spencer family got word that daughter, IeAnn .Inlander of Vernal had surgery, so Effie went to give her help and moral support. Brent Spencer is walking on crutches with his leg in a cast. He broke it playing ball but it was only a practice game. The Grant Spencers had a weekend visit from Bob and wife from Orderville The Alveys here got word that our brother, Ray L. of Roy had a broken ankle. He had surgery and two pins put in; then they discovered it was not straight so there has tn hp another operation. Kirk Lyman met his son Claud Jack in Salt Iake City and brought him here, then the two of them moved to Boulder to run the Jepsen Ranch. Dick Schow came from the land northward to visit relatives and some who were not related Iwell and Nelds Munson spent most of January traveling; they picked up daughter, Maureen in Ohio, visited the country around Nauvoo, went to Washington DC and spent four days in Chicago with son Daryl and family who have a new baby girl which is number three They have two girls and a boy. Stake quarterly conference was held Saturday and Sunday with a fair crowd; 37 percent of the membership Saturday night a meeting featured good talks and outstanding music by a girl's chorus directed by Louise Liston. The social started with several dances by square dancers from the Tropic and Panguitch areas, then the Cheynoweth and Goulding orchestra played for general dancing. Could not decide who had the most fun; the square dancers or the Spencer boys, Vernon and Ushur The Sunday morning meeting was conducted by Pres. Munson, speakers were Vernon Spencer, LaMar Feltner, Evan Chynoweth, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harbaugh, Henry Jolly, Melanie Griffin, Almeda Haycock and Lorell Munson. The mixed chorus from Tropic sang. Sunday meeting was put on by the Munson family and som friends; Vaunda Willis and Louise Liston sang, talks by Nelda and lorell, song by Rarbara and Maureen reported her mission. Raylene Alvey was home for her two days off from her Job in Richfield The Gene Griffins had son Mark and wife home. The Melvin Alveys had Rick and Helen Pruitt and son from Richfield Ivan and Nelda Willis had Elwood and Vaunda and part of their family. Howard and Lenea Munson and family members came from Cedar City. Beth Coleman and son were at the Lovell Twitchells, so was DeAnn Gillies Ann Haws and son.
