Panguitch Clinches Region Eight Title; Other Races Tight With the season quickly winding down and the league round robin on the near horizon, three distinct divisions have surfaced in Region Eight basketball circles. There is Division One, Division Two and the large division between Panguitch and the remainder of the league Panguitch, oozing with talent and hungry for a state championship, coasted to its eighth straight victory by shooting past Escalante, 73-42, Friday night And with only two games remaining on the Bobcats' schedule, Panguitch officially clinched the Region Eight, Division Two championship. Milford broke away from a 37-34 halftime edge to outscore Parowan, 26-12, during the third quarter to subdue the Rams, 83-61 Ken Jones poured in 26 points, Brad Kirk 18, and Gary' Mayer and Steve Moody 14 apiece for the defending 1-A champion Tigers. Brad Fife dropped in a cool 27 points for Parowan to lead all scorers. Kanab also depended on a fruitful third quarter lo vault past Beaver, 56-48 The Cowboys turned a 27-22 lead at the intermission into a 42-30 advantage by ouishooting the Beavers, 15 8, in the third period to at the Kanab supremacy Kim Glover tossed in 15 points and Don Glover and Ben Johnson 13 each for Kanab. Daniel Robinson put in 22 points for Beaver. North Sevier overcame a narrow 7-6 first quarter edge to outscore En terpriae, 16-4, during the second period cn route to a 74-42 victory. Trv Hallows and Randy Bun-each popped in 16 points to pace the Wolves, while Court Clove led Enterprise with 21 points. In other Division Two games Friday night, Valley moved into a tie for second place by edging Piute, 64-73, while Wayne defeated Bryce Valley, 71-67. Valley boosted its record to 5-3 to catch Piute, as the Buffaloes tiptoed to a 53-44 third-quarter advantage and withstood a gallant Piute comeback in a final eight minutes to gain the one-point verdict. Mack Esplin and Geno Ramsay dropped in 16 points apiece and Ivan Frost added 14 to pace Valley. Kelly Coon and Kim Dalton led Piute with 18 and 14 points respectively. Wayne assumed a 51-47 lead after three periods and played Bryce Valley to a 20- 2-3 standoff in the fourth quarter to assure its triumph.
