Show ( lannonville Scouts Mote ''Work in Special Event ( WNONVILLK Dressed in their new scout uniforms and receiving the badges and awards they ahd earned, the Boy Scouts of Cannonville under scoutmaster. Drew Kreitzer learned the important lessons of belonging and of achieving They learned of belonging after Mr. Kreitzer organized the troop; the first troop this size since Cannonville was settled 100 years ago There have been small inactive troops but Troop 690 is different This troop is different because there are 10 boys enrolled from 11 to 17. It is different because for the first time the boys have uniforms: all the boys have uniforms. They worked hard to get their unifroms. The boys and advisors gathered and sold firewood to Nevada earning enough money to buy every boy in the troop a uniform They learned of achieving as the boys received 26 skill awards, 16 merit badges and 12 progress awards at their recent Court of Honor. Seven boys received their Tenderfoot lYogress Award, Robert Fletcher. Mark Nelson, lieorge Thompson, Dean Mclnelly, Chip Dutton. PilK Dutton. Scott Moss; Kendall Dutton received his Second Classs progress award, Ralph Clarke received his First ( lass progress award and Alan Stock received his Star progress awar. Two of the boys had earned a progress award previously but had not been presented the award until now. Although there was no troop in Cannonville, three boys had been working in the scouting program. Alan Stock had been working on his own with encouragement by several individuals in town , Kendall Dutton had been attending a Tropic troop and Ralph Clark recently moved from Mesquite, Nev , where he had been active in scouting Joe Thompson is the assistant Scoutmaster with Michael James Clark ward sroutinc coordinator; and Alma Fletcher, Bishop Clele Fletcher and Don Mangum, troop com mittee members. Mr. Mangum is the chairman. "Our Goal is for every boy to receive his Eagle Award," Scoutmaster Kreitzer said. |
