Wayne stayed right behind the Bobcats in the standings with an impressive victory over Piute as Tim Dietlein, Jeff Hanks, Jason Ellett and Martin Clark all hit the double figures. Beaver improved its record to 4-2 with a four-point win in Salina with Steve Lowe scoring 21 and Roger Don Marshall 16. Travis Simpson had 16 for the losers. Valley picked up its first win of the season as Ivan Frost and Victor Campbell each scored 18 while Mack Esplin and Bret Lamb each added 14. Rick Griffin scored 22 for Escalante. Milford was extremely Impressive in blasting Kanab as Garth Mayer, Mitch Bealer and Randy Kerr scored 16 while Brad Kirk added 15, Ken Jones 12 and Mark Nelson 10. Kevin Bunting and Mark Corry each scored 12 for the Cowboys. The big surprise of the night was the close battle at Enterprise between the winless Wolves and the undefeated Bulldogs. Gunnison had to keep fighting off Enterprise comebacks before finally posting the one-point victory as Greg Hill scored 20, Ronald Nay added 12 and Robin Johnson scored 11 to offset a 20-point performance by Wolf Larry Phelps and a 14-point effort bv Kevin Staheli. The Bulldogs took an early 10-0 lead, tell benina ana men went up by seven points with 1:41 left. But Enterprise fouled three times and Gunnison picked up one point, barely holding on for the victory. Enterprise slowed the ball down much of the game. |
