One lady in Tropic has a very special talent she shares with everyone around her, that of being a good, helpful considerate neighbor. Whenever someone needs a helping hand in the home, in their garden, in the community or in the church, or has an errand that needs run, they know that they can call Verdella Nielson of Tropic and she will be there. It doesn't matter if she is in the best of health or "feeling just a bit under the weather," she is always willing to help. This untiring endless help Is performed in love and with compassion for any way possible. Although she enjoys hunting and fishing this comes In her life only when she is sure her services are not needed. Tropic's 'Minute Lady' Wins Hearts of Residents Verdella knows, "there is always someone a little worse off than I am." If a neighbor needs something, they call on Verdella and if she doesn't have what they need, she will get it. Because of her never ending service to those around her she is lovingly called "Tropic's Minute Lady". One wonders how she finds time to do things she needs done for herself. But she finds this time becuase helping others, making things for others is just what she wants. She is a very talented person in handicrafts. Her quilts and crocheting are called for by many, because they are so unique in design and well done. She can take the smallest bits of fabric, sew them together, and make them into a beautiful quilt, pillow top, or doll, a task that many a homemaker would not attempt. Verdella was recently honored by the Tropic Relief Society for being always there and ready when someone needed help. Whenever there is sickness or a death in a family, she and her sister, Minnie, are among those first to offer help. She loves outdoor sports and gardening. She enjoys fishing in the summer and hunting in the fall. She never worries about herself just her friends and neighbors. One of her friends say of her, "She is just darned good . . . she would give you the shirt off her back." She is loved and respected by young and old, and a friend to everyone. V 1 |
