Show Monroe Team Winner Of Cage Tournament A three day Invitational basketball tournament sponsored by Panguitch Stake was held April 6-8 at Piute High School. Proceeds of the tournament will go to the Panguitch Stake Center building fund. Team standings at the end of the tournament were Monroe, Beaver, Marysvale, Antimony, Circleville, Panguitch, Bryce Valley and Kingston-Junction. High scorer for the tournament was Mauri Parsons with 89, followed by Mike Daniels with 67 and Kerry Rupp with 59. bryce canyon 30 fp BRYCE CANYON-The month of March was a busy one at Bryce Canyon. The park was visited by 9566 persons, an increase of 11 percent over the 75-76 year. Overnight camping was quite heavy due to the 'beautiful weather and lack of snow. There were 86 recreation vehicles and 93 tents during March in the North Campground. Last year the campground wasn't open during this period. The weather fluctuated between clear, warm, sunny days and snow storms. The average temperature was 27.5 with the coldest temperature 2 and the warmest temperature 56 deg F. There were 9 Inches of snow bringing a total of .83 Inch of moisture. vni mot 1:11 44 uic i at ft w visited by 12 Cadets from the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado. The interpretive and resource management division is gearing up for a new park program, the Youth Conservation Corps. Participants will be from the local area and the Program is open to persons 14 to 18 years old. The program coordinator will be Park Ranger Jim Hannah. The Bryce Canyon Natural History Association has hired Millard Hatch of Panguitch to work in the Visitor Center on the weekends. A new staff member, Roy McCluskey, entered on duty March 27. He transferred from Colorado National Monument and occupies the position formally held by Dick Thomas. Roy is accompanied by his wife and 4 children. |
