Show Emergency Loans Available Through FH A In Garfield Emergency loans are now available at the Farmers Home Administration Office in Kane and Garfield counties, according to Ken Brinkerhoff county supervisor. Persons may apply for natural disaster losses until May 23, and production losses until December 22. Annual production loans will not be made after December 31, 1977 Applicants must determine that private sources of credit will not serve their needs. Loans must be secured and repaid the length of loan will be in accordance with the Farm and Home Plan and the expectant life, normally seven years, not to exceed 20 years for operating type loans and 40 years for actual losses to real estate. Current operating loans will be repaid normally in one year. Interest rate is at 5 percent and 8 percent. Farmers Home Ad-minsitration farm loan services are normally available only to family size farms, however, under the Emergency Loan Authority larger individually operated units, together with partnerships and corporations are eligible to apply. To be eligible one must have sustained production loss of at least 20 percent, using the average of the high 4 out of last S year crops In one or more basic enterprises. A basic enterprise Is one which provides not less than 25 percent of the normal gross income. Applicants are responsible to provide history of the last 5 years production. In some cases statistical averages can be used in lieu of individual records, Eligible applicants can receive a 5 percent loan for losses actually sustained less benefits received from the ASCS Office. Loan amounts above losses will be at the 8 percent rate. Applications can be obtained at the local FmHA Offices in Panguitch and Kanab.
