Show Area Obituaries , , - --, -, -. - Loycl Gates ESCALANTE - Loyd Gates, 77, Escalante, died Feb. 27. 1975 in a St. George hospital of a heart attack. He was born July 12, 1897, Escalante, to llyrum and Rozella Heaps Gates. He married Dcma Hall, May 28, 1920, Parowan. He was a past partner in the Gates Ranch, Escalante; past employee of Garfield County Road Dept. and Utah State Highway Department. He was past president of the Escalante Liens Club. He served an LDS mission to Texas. Survivors: wife; son, Lynn, II., Escalante; granddaughter; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Griffin, Salt Lake City. Funeral services were Monday in the Escalante Ward chapel with Stanley Liston, officiating. Deward Hall offered the family prayer and Areola Gates played prelude music. Morris A. Shirts offered the invocation. Speakers were Heber Allen, Bishop Doyle Cottom, Bishop Delane Griffin and Bishop Sharon Dale Marsh. Music included selections by the Escalante Ward Choir and a vocal duet by Hal and Geneal Shurtz. Bishop Morris Shirts offered the benediction. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Wallace Roundy offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Page Bleak, Donald Neilson, Wesley Twitchell, Bud Gates, Kay Gates and Gates Christensen. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Bleak, Cummings Gates. Richard Bleak and Pratt Gates. - - |
