Show Rodent .Control Seminars Set In Garfield Pocket gophers and other rodents are causing extensive damage to alfalfa fields, irrigation storage ponds, ditch banks, orchards, gardens, forest nurserys, and ornamental plantings. Poison baits containing strychnine and sodium monoflour acetate were banned from use on February 9, 1972 by EPA. The EPA order has now been amended to allow the U.S. Fish , and Wildlife Service to sell strychnine treated grain j directly to Individuals for use on private land provided that 1) your "predator" is a valid target species and 2) you . , I 1 complete a training seminar on how to use the bait and become a registered user. Robert Oppenheimer, from EDelta, and supervisory government trapper USF and WS, is conducting hour-long training seminars in Garfield and Kane Counties on Saturday, November 18. Emphasis will be on pocket gopher control and satisfying registration requirements. Other problems will be dealt with as interest and time permit. USU Extension Service can no longer handle or distribute bait.
