Show Cut Your Own - - BLM Relaxes Xmas Tree Ban Utah families who want to cut their own Christmas trees will be able to do so on Bureau of Land Management administered lands. Robert P. Nielson, BLM Utah State DUector, made the announcement, reversing an earlier decision. Adjustments of program priorities have been made to accommodate the popular pre-holiday activity, "Public interest beyond our expectations caused us to revise our thinking," Mr. Nielson said. "We now have reconsidered our priorities and will provide the manpower and funds to permit families who want to go into the hills to cut their own trees." Permits to cut Christmas trees on BLM administered lands must be obtained from bureau district offices in Ced-ar City, Fillmore, Kanab, Vernal, Montlcello, Price or Richfield. The permits will cost $1 each and will be limited to one per family. Persons cutting their own trees shoud be certain to cut a tree only In a designated area, don't harass wildlife or livestock, keep vehicles on established roads and don't HHer or deitruy property. |
