Show BIG TIMBER SALES FROM NATIONAL FOREST Alvin F. Wright. Forest Supervisor of the Dixie National Forest, announced the sale of over 25 million board feet of sawtlmber U three purchasers during Fiscal Year 1971. Five sales were sold to Kalbab Industries of Panguitch. They are Blue Spring Mountain, Whiteman Bench, Birch Creek, Dairy Hollow and Horse Hollow. Steed Logging Co. of Escalante was successful bidder on Upper Valley timber sale, and Audley G. Vidrine, also of Escalante, was awarded the Allen Canyou Bench timber sale. One and one-half million board feet of aspen in Upper Tippetts Valley was also offered for sale. Western Division, AMXVO, of Arlington. Texas, was successful bidder on this sale. , , Additional small sawtlmber sales sold on the Dixie total more than 3.5 million board feet. Twenty-six Ch.!stmas tree sales were advertised, selling 6,937 trees to buyers for commercial purposes. During the Christmas season 3,087 trees were sold to Individuals from designated cutting areas on the Dixie. The timber being removed from these areas is matured trees needing harvest. All timber sales are being harvest-cd within the requirements of the"" National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, which provides protection needs for all other resources and the environment found within the National Forest. |
