Show Escalante Chit Chat BY FAY ALVLY We had a white Thanksgiving which pleased some and spoiled the plans of others by dividing menus, for example; Dale and Thelma Marsh had pie and pudding here and Warren and Kathleen Woolsey had turkey and trimmings in Cedar City. Berlin and Renee Osborn braved the storm and went to Cedar City to have dinner with Mark and Jo Barney, Dave Francisco was under the wheel but Berlin did the driving. Usher and Eva Spencer went to Provo, where he had surgery, the last report he was doing OK. Ray Shurtz was hospitalized" for tests" andpossible surgery. Melba and Arils Brooks took Ray and Lenore Griffin North where Ray had an appointment with his doctor. Mont Griffin and Miriam Crandal are still in the Pangultch hospital, relatives go over every few days. Mary and La-Vern Griffin and Dee Haws had business In Pangultch. Melvln and Florence Alvey and son Wayne went to Cedar City to get Helen and Lucinda and all went to Price for Thanksgiving dinner with relatives, then they took Lucinda in to Salt Lake City to board the plane for an all expense-paid trip to Chicago. Lucinda's 4-H Journal on Home Management won first place in the state which entitled her to go to the National competition, she was selected to give the invocation at the convention. Forest and Ruth Alvey had Rolalne Lyman and family here from Cedar City, LaDell and family from Kanab. The Smith Alveys had Jay and Linda Stokes and baby here from Tooele. Smith did not get here for Thanksgiving on account of the bad weather, but he did make it in time to see his new granddaughter. Everett and Caroline Williams had business In Salt Lake City. Gall and Donna Bailey went there to spend Thanksgiving with Mike Hatch and family. Grant and Lee Listen spent the holiday in Phoenix, Arizona, with Marilyn and David Griffin. The Lorenzo Griffins had Lewis and Jean and part of their family from Provo. Evan and Lois Reeves and Girls from Las Vegas. Roe and Clema Barney and family of Page spent the weekend here at the Jane Woolsey home. The Marvin Mounteers had all of their family home, Including their future daughter-in-law, Beverly Peterson of Cedar City. Judy Ludgate and family of Wyoming, Dannj Wooisey and wife of Sallna spent Thanksgiving here with relatives. Rol and Mlna Porter had Kenneth and Maria Griffin and members of their family; Maureen, Earl, Deloa, Ann, Gerald Thompson and his family. Dorthy and Newell Cowles and family of Richfield were at the Daniel Cowles and Calvin Shurtz homes. The Philo Carters went to Phoenix for the winter. Keith Carter and family moved hero. The Ronald Beebes spent Thanksgiving in Beaver. The Haycocks, Stanley, Neta, Gordon and Almeda and family spent the long weekend in Las Vegas. Terrill Haws went there to visit his brother Rick. The Wan-les Alveys had Donnette and Dick Lee and daughters here from Syracuse. Geraldine Jep-son spent Thanksgiving with her grandmother, Nellie Bailey. Beryl and Retha Shurtz had Carlyle and family home. Blake and Gurena Robinson spent the weekend In Provo with family members. Ott and Hilda Roundy made It home safely from California, Gwen and Randal Lyman wet-e not quite so lucky, they rolled their car over and demolished it but they were unhurt. Randal wanted everyone to know Gwen was driving. Craig Twitchell came from Idaho with a four wheel drive outfit and took his parents, Lo-vell and Martha, to Pangultch where the family met at the Gillies home for dinner. Cur-tiss Larson and family came here for the weekend and Craig went to Las Vegas to visit the Clutters, then to California where Joyce and . Clyde Too-man live now. The Bob Mitchells were transferred to Monti-cello and got moved. The Escalante squad of the Garfield County Jeep Posse held election last week. Guy Leming was elected Lieutenant, Obe Wright of Boulder was retained as Sergeant and Harold Nutter as Secretary and Treasurer. Guy, Twlla and Lynn got a nice Christmas present early to avoid the rush, It was three airplane tickets from Salt Lake City to Burlington, North Carolina, where their kids, Carta and Tom Byrant and their kids, Wendy, Lorie and Ben live. They are to leave Salt Lake City December 5th and spend the holidays in North Carolina. The Lorell Munsons had Da-ryl and Phyllis and Maureen home from Provo for Thanksgiving. Daryl had to be back for work but Maureen stayed the weekend. All of the college kids were home. Darrell and Dianne Alvey and kids went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to visit Dianne's folks. Marie Hall had son Mack Stef-fenson and family here from Salt Lake City. The Elmer Smiths had son Danny, his wife Jackl and children Debbie and Bill from Santa Fe, California. In Sacrament meeting Sunday the South Ward program was put on by the Curtlss Larson family. Curtlss and oldest son Mike gave talks and Denise sang two songs on thanVulness accompanied by Susan Wilson, The North Ward listened to the new bishopric, Gordon Sta-ker, Everett Williams and Stanley Liston. Then Alan Porter who took time out from his missslon In Texas on account of health problems talked briefly. His wife Kathy was j with him. They visited and had dinner at the Gary Fonlaln's. Danny Fontaln cehbratcd his third birthday anniversary. Al-vin Griffin came to set up the old coal stove for his mother, Bessie, and get her a load of coal. Twila Mclnelly had Mik3 and Grena Searle home. The Ball boys played in Milford and Beaver and got beaten slightly both places. Ivan and Nelda Willis had all of their family home except Lowell. Blaine came the day after Thanksgiving, Gama and Lynn Mclnelly stayed at the Hyrum Coleman home. Vaunda and Elwood showed off that new daughter. Maureen and Wayne Dean and family came In their mobile home from California. Hode and Ila Alvey did not venture out In the storm on Thanksgiving but went to Henrleville later for dinner with Lee and Thelma Smith. Walter and Virginia Dane had son Lee and family here from Las Vegas. An old fashioned girl is the kind of a wife who makes one husband last all her life. |
