James and Millie Mclnelly went to Salt Lake where James had the long cast removed and a shorter one put on, they took part of the wires out of his feet and he goes back next week to be worked on again. Orabell Welgel brought them home to visit awhile then will take them back. Her husband John is working In St. George so came here for the weekend. Jane Woolsey ruptured a varicose vein In her leg and bled all over the place, scaring herself and the folks who came to her aid. Florence and Melvln Alvey and Nelda Willis got the blood stopped, called Dr. Dug-gins who said to keep her quiet the rest of the night and bring her to the hospital next morning for shots and treatment. Melvln and Florence took her over and back. Bill Hathaway went over and 6tayed overnight for observation but he Is back home. Bonnie Chlono stays In bed most of the time, enduring extreme pain, her sister Lillian Smith helps Alfred care for her. Arnold Alvey Is well enough to drive himself to the doctor at Pangultch, he let Mother Alvey and me go along, she had a checkup. Where do you suppose Bernard Henrie got his knowledge of pills? We supposed that was Monte Marshall's catagory. Earl and Nethella Woolsey went to Pangultch for the funeral services of his kinsman Ambrose Myers; others having business there were Stan and Jan Listen, Jim and Erma Gates, Mont and Ethyl Griffin. Curley Hale took Ruth to St. George to meet relatives who took her to Las Vegas for a visit. Lane and Geraldine Iiston and Mel and Judy Brooks spent the weekend In Las Vegas. Bob Mitchell and Rex Lawrence took a load of stakes to Las Vegas. Weldo and Kathy Woolsey tre here from Farmlngton, New Mexico. Bryce Porter of Provo visited relatives here. Marjie Spencer and Mary Steed took the FHA girls to Salt Lake City. The Buttons, Leah, Lynn and Wayne went to St. George to the temple, some ward members accompanied them. The Keith Carters came from Colorado to check on their home and cattle. Hal and Geneal Shurtz and family went to Cedar City and St. George. The Arnold Button family wrecked three vehicles almost the same time; the boys had the truck to Cedar City and had an accident, Arnold and Leah run together somewhere between town and the ranch, none of the people were injured, with these slick roads anything can happen. Melvin Brooks had an accident with one of Steeds lumber trucks. Quite a number of townspeople went to Parowan to watch the game which our boys won, Vernon Dean Roundy brought his team here Friday night and they won. Our boys have made a good showing and we are proud of them. The bantam teams played, Skyline against Kelly Construction and Skyline won. Vernon Dean Roundy had all of his here except Peg and the baby, LaRae was also here from Cedar City. Renon Reed and daughters came for the weekend, Gene had gone to Alaska for several days. Roe and Clema Barney went to Missouri where he attended a schooling for Park Service employees. Evelyn Lyman came home for the weekend accompanied by three girl friends: Katy Walton, Janet Laub and Ruth Mcintosh. They put on the program In the South ward Sacrament meeting, they each gave a talk, the three girls sang accompanied by Evelyn, Kathy played the violin accompanied by Evelyn. The North ward speakers were Jack Chynow-eth, Usher Spencer and Roy Charlson. A big percent of the population went to Tropic for conference. Wilmer Baker and small daughter Jennifer surprised his pa-rents, Reeves and Laura, with a weekend visit, he reported wife and new daughter doing fine. The Norm Chris-tensens had daughter Julie and the Beryl Shurtzs daughter Marlyn, DeLane and Leah Griffin went to Cedar City to the Hentlst, so did Geraldine Lis-ton and kids. Carl and Jessie Bearden of Bakersville, Calif, have been visiting our area for several years, now they have bought and moved into the old Park Shurtz home. They had a dinner Saturday for a group of friends. Dinah Christensen roasted the turkey, she and Mohr were there, Earl and Nethella Woolscy, Bernard and Ora Sen-ow, the Elmer Smiths, the Ira Hustons, Grace Barney, Moth- er Alvey and myself. We were late because Dinah did not say anything except come over to the Park Shurtz home around three. Jim Yardley came over to see about the Button's wreck. Gary Fontaln is the new Scout Master. Louise and Donene Lis-ton went to Salt kaKe Citv to attend the FIIA banquet, the other girls were Lucinda Alvey, Julie Shurtz, Margo Gates and Camille Spencer. Remember St. Valentine's day is the time to see that special film for the young at heart The MIA put on an outstanding program last week with the announcing done by Der-lyn Mitchell, song Vadis Christensen, piano solo Debbie Sta-kcr, song Cindy Fontaln accompanied by Lucinda Alvey, pi- ano solo Laura Staker, song Deon Alvey, Geraldine Liston and Marlene Haws accompanied by Dawn Griffin, song Len-ard Hcadly, song by the Gordon Stakers and the Gary Fon-tains accompanied by Areola Gates, piano solo, Charlene Uaycotk. Is the ground hog story really true? I hope it is because it's fun to accept mythical things just like old Santa Claus. |
