Show Local Business And Professional Women Stage Successful Fall Conference For Southern District Delegates Fall conference of the South cm District of Business and Professional Women's Clubs was held at the Flying M cafe in Panguitch Nov. 9; 54 mem bers and 3 guests were in attendance. District director Dolly Henrie presided; Ingra Richards, vice director, and Ivah Cline, district secretary-treasurer, were present. Prcceeding the main meeting a business session was held. The name of Ingra Richards was submitted for district vice director to fill an existing vacancy, and she was unaml-ously approved for the office All the district club presid ents were here: Alia Palce of Beaver, Clara Knell of Cedar City, Verna Tomsik of Milford. Irene McEwen of Panguitch, Karma Bills of Zion Kathryn Brewer led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ella Ruesch led the Club Collect Margie Prince assisted with the welcoming as she talked about the table decorations which were In the Pilgrim and Indian theme. She used the Indian words for welcome and hello. Honored guests were the U-tah Federation President De Lone Peterson of Logan, 1st vice president Josephine Yer-gensen of Roosevelt. 2nd vice president Mabel O'Brien of Centerville. recording score tary Helen Dahle of Salt Lake, and corresponding secretary Gay Leonhardt of Providence. Pat Dix entertained the group with table talk and sang two numbers. "Turn Around, Look at Me" and "The Shadow of Your Smile," accompanied by Mrs McEwen at the piano. Under the direction of Mrs O'Brien and state officers, the program was built around the theme of lTnite-Share-Act but stressed the Importance of the BPWs Spotlight on Youth that is needed in our world today Names were drawn for door prizes with Ingra in charge. The group voted to limit one prize to a person so IS received gifts. The main prize, a frozen turkey, was won by Marva Palmer of Hurricane, and Del)ne Peterson won the beautiful Christmas centerpiece. Plates of homemade candy (and Jars of bullberry Jel-lv for state officers) helped to spread our Southern hospitality. |
