Show Funeral Services For Martha L. Davis Held At Escalante On January 25th Funeral services for Martha L Davis, 83, were held Jan. 25 in the Escalante North ward chaps. Family prayer, Bishop Lorell Munson; prelude and postlude music. Areola Gates; song, "Beyond The Sunset," Singing Mothers; opening prayer. President Reeves V. Baker; Tribute to Grandmother, Jean ne Tompson; speaker, Roland Porter; song, "I'll Wear A White Flower For You, Mother Dear." Usher Spencer; speaker. I-orenzo H. Griffin; remarks, Hishop Vernon R. Spencer; song, "Abide With Me." Singing Mothers; closing prayer, D. H. Cowles. The grave was dedicated by President J. Clyde Spencer; burial was in the Escalante Cemetery under direction of Neal S. Mag-lebv and Sons Mortuary. Mrs. Davis died Jan. 21 in Murray of natural causes. She was born May 27, 1884 in Escalante. a daughter of Joseph Coleman and Mary Ann Almi- ra Wilson Lay. On April 28, 1909 she was married to John Eli Davis; the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He died Oct. 3. 1960. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Reed (Wilmirth) Wooley, Mrs. Jennings H. ilia) Alvey, both F.scalante: Mrs W. J. (Cloone) Norton, Mrs. Frank (Naomil Ott, both Murray; Mrs. C. J. (Bertha) Rohison. Copperton ; 19 grandchildren. 37 greatgrandchildren; sisteis. lira Elizabeth Rogers, San Mateo. Calif.; Mrs. Helen Kruof r von Park. Fla. All of the immediate family of Mrs Davis was here for the services and most of the grandchildren, manv of them stnyed for the weekend. The family wishes to thank everyone for their sympathy and many kindnesses at the pass ing of their beloved Mother and Grandmother |
