Reeves and Laura Baker are home and so thrilled about it; Doyle Cottam brought them as he was in Salt Lake City to attend a school for the assessors, he also brought Ruth Thompson to help them a-while. Mont Griffin Is a patient in the Panguitch hospital, his relatives have made several trips to see him and friends have dropped In. Gene Griffin took bis truck to Hurricane for a load of the belongings of the Moss family; Karl Moss had to be hospitalized as his ulcers were acting up. Reed and Wilmirth Wooley went to Salt Lake City where he had an appointment with a head specialist; their granddaughter Julie Jensen and Nell Barker accompanied them. The Christmas lights are beautiful, those on Main Street are extended farther each year, they now go from Cook Listen's corner to the post office and the big tree at Neal Listen's home Is extra attractive, not everyone has a permanent Christmas tree. Smith Alvey and ton Tony went to Gunnison to take a horn: to meet Ray L. Alvey of Roy, he needed one to finish his cutter race team. Blake and Gurena Robinson went to Phoenix, Arizona to horse races. Darrell Alvey joined some Richfield men for a trip to California to look at horses. There were several robberies last week of business places, the sheriff waa here but if they had any leads as to the Identity of the culprits or the extent of he loss it was not made known. The newlyweds, Jimmy and Jolyn Peterson went to San Diego, Calif, where he is stationed In ihe Service; Eldon and Amber Griffin took a load of their things and helped them get settled in a nice ap artment close to the base. Then the Griffins toured Mexico and brought home some souvei.lers. The grandparents, LaVern and Mary kept Wendy The Grant Spencers had Do nald, I lnda and the baby here from Wyoming, not Thanks giving day bul afterwards Thoy, like most of our young folks would like to stay home and still have employment The Spencers also had Vickl and Cloment Davis of Panguitch here Pat Sorensen had surgery and the two mothers stayed on to care for her until she got on her feet. Waily Woolsey came from Cedar City and took Sarah Heaps back to spend the winter. Dixie and Theron Mitchell took Eddie and Veda to Provo for Ed's checkup, they brought Kate Porter home. Peggy Griffin went to Richfield to get Koleen's car, Beth Listen went along for moral support. G era dine and Lane Listen had business in Cedar City. Parley and Led a Pratt had Duane and Sharon Dut-ton and youngsters here from Wyoming for the Thanksgiving holiday. Phyllis Alvey went to Richfield for dental appointments; It seems that last Saturday was Escal ante's day there; Stan Haycock and family, Usher and Eva Spencer, Dena Alvey, Clarice Griffin, Areola Gates and kids, Isabell Spencer, Thelma Cottam, Rula Spencer, and we Alveys. We met Maud Reynolds briefly, she looks good and says that Friday Is a bright day In her life as that is the day she gets the Garfield County News so she can keep track of her old friends. She says to tell all hello. The High School ball boys have playd three practice basketball games and won one, they played Beaver, Parowan and Wasatch. The Speech class consisting of seniors presented a three act play in the gym under the direction of Berlin Osborn. Visitors at the Rex Lawrence home were his sisters Melanie and Nancy of Parowan, the Lawrences visited relatives In Central. Thelma and Dale Marsh and Retha Shurtz went to Cedar City to get Virginia Bauer and on to Salt Lke City to the funeral services of their kinsman Isabell Wilcock Alvey. Robert Haws was home from his job in Cedar City; Mary Lynn Sidwell went to visit Richard Jim and Alta Yardley of Panguitch were here. Nicki Excell and baby of Sunnyslde are at the Bill Griffin home. The Hal Shurtz home had Vic ki and daughter from Cedar City, Randal and Gwen Lyman are home from California and report the new grandson born to Dick and Mary doing fine. Howard and Doris came from Bountiful and took her back north. The Hode Alveys had Merle and Venice Hansen and family here from Salt Lak City. MaeVonn and Arden Taylor put on a family dinner Sunday with 33 in attendance, their son Emmorn Dodds leaves for the Service Tuesday, so does Bobbie Spencer, son of Grant and Laretta. Janice Oyler came from Cedar City and put on a house ware party at the Sariah Alvey home. Grena Mclnelly is home to catch her breath before looking for a Job, she Just finished her student teaching, she attended SUSC Kenneth Spencer is going there also, missed him and that is enex-cusable as we visited about his plans |
