Leland and Berthene Griffin and Rhoda Shafer spent last Thursday at Cedar City. Le land went to attend Youth Center at State Hospital at Cedar College; he also attended a GarKane meeting at Order-ville on the 26th. Jerry and Dave Millett and family spent the Easter week- end here at the Ora Shafer home. Dave and Eda Quilter are home after spending a few days with Gladys Johnson and family at Hankiville. Then they went to Castle Gate to visit Verda and Willard Craig for three days. Willard took them to Flaming Gorge and they said that was well worth the trip to see that. The Dar Smith family of St. George visited here Saturday. Mrs. Helen Olson brought her son Jeff to visit with Eddie Smith on Saturday. The Olsons have recently been transferred from Bryce Canyon National Park to Capitol Reef National Monument and were back to Tropic for a meeting and to visit. The Dave Roses had Collin, Max and Kathy, and Brenda Rose home for Easter from Cedar City. Verland and Lon-na Rose were over from Glen-dale. Theron Rose was here from Pocatello, Idaho. Ken Piatt of Richfield also visited the Roses over the weekend. Dave and Delpha Rose have a new granddaughter born to Millie and Dan Chidester of G rants ville. They have two other children to welcome the new girl. The other grandparents are the John Chidesters. Mrs. Grace Brown of Oakland, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brown visited Melba Smith last Thursday. Birthdays this week are Cora Johnson, Berthene Griffin, and Brett Chynoweth. Joyce Sorenson, daughter of Harry and Thora Partner, has been accepted into the Nursing School at Long Beach City College. Their daughter Evelyn has now moved into Stans-bury Hall at Weber College at Ogden. The Bryan Johnson family visited in St. George with the Karl White family and In Cedar City with the Dennis White family. The Oscar Willis family of Grand Canyon visited over the Easter weekend with his mother, Fern Willis. Their two children Daryl and Suzanne, who are going to BYU, met them here to viait. The Boy Willis family of Bryce Canyon joined them for an Easter dinner on Saturday. The Eugene Quilter family spent last Tuesday in Cedar City. Then they went to Glen Canyon on Saturday to Easter with her parents, Kay and Laura Clark. Boxie Chynoweth, Frank, Lu-la and Frankie Moore, Tonl and Kelly Nlelson went Easter ing down Cottonwood Wash on Saturday. Last Wednesday Darreld Nielson underwent major surgery at the Holy Cross Hospital at Salt Lake City. Mary Lou called his mother Lula Moore Saturday and reports that Darreld is still in pretty serious condition. We all send our best wishes to him. Several local people attend ed the wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Jeddie LeFevre at Tropic on Saturday. Monday the Layton Smith family picked up Mildred Deuel at Pansuitch and went to Bichfield for a dental appointment. Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Shumway and family of Heber City spent the weekend with his mother Minnie Smith and Tom. The EUis Johnsons visited here I,r week. They brought Cora Johnson and family of Springvtlle to visit the Hersh-el Partner family. Also visiting over the weekend at the Partners were their daughter Violate and Glen Mortin and family of St. George. Earl Coffman spent the Easter weekend with his family at Springville. Vee Smith visited at the Lee Smith home. Elizabeth Baugh went with Owen and Lucy Shakespear to Lake Powell to fish last week. Elizabeth went to Las Vegas for the wedding Saturday of her granddaughter Michelle Barton of Tropic and Fred Torres of Hurricane. There is still some sickness in our town. It has been a cold weekend for Easter. |
