Show U.S. FOREST SERVICE NEWS CPI Gets Timber, Bugs,GettPoison, Weather Gets 'Cold The mercury took, quite a skid this past week with low temperatures ranging from 35 on October 29th to ll'on the 4th of November. The highs for the past week ran from 69 on the 29th of October to 48 on the 2nd of No vember. There was also a trace of precipitation on the 29th. of October and the snowfall on the 2nd of November measured 102 of an lncii of precipitation. There was no moisture received on the East Fork, therefore, this area renains dry and dusty .and hunters on the Paunsaug-unt Unit we cautioned to be caref ul ydit fire. Despite the dropping" temperatures, fire danger' remains high due to the lack of precipitation. Snow has been reported In the higher elevations on the Panguitcb Lake Ranger District. For thn most part,. "the skies remain clear and' the days are chilly. The insect control work on the Griffin Top has been completed. The work, involved curtailment a spruce bark beetle infestation In the stumps of the logged over areas. Logs; are being hauled from the Blubber Creek area by Crofts Pearson Industries mak- Ing this drainage a poor hunting area. Mark F. Jones, District' Forest.
