Show Perkins Names Crew For County - Wide Census On Agriculture Questionnaires for the 1964 Census of Agriculture are now being mailed out to farmers and ranchers of Garfield County, according to James D. Perkins, crew leader' in charge of the census in the county. The questionnaires are expected to reach the farmers within a few days. This will allow the farmers a period of time in which to consult their 1964 farm business.' records in order to answer qtffetlons'on the. form accurately before enumerators begin calling on individual farmers to collect the questionnaires. These visits are scheduled to start on Nov. 9th in this county. An enumerator will call on every farmer in the district under his supervision. At the time" of call, the enumerator will help the farmer complete ' answers to any questions that prove difficult to understand and check the form for accuracy. The enumerators will be trained in a special 4-day home study course designed to prepare them for the farm census. The following persons have been" appointed: Marann Webster; Panguitch; Eva Pollock, Tropic; Coleen Imlay, Escalante. e Census of Agriculture is taken every five years in the "years "ending in '4' and '9 to gather needed, up-to-date information on the nation's agricultural resources and production. Such information is vital in making decisions affecting many segments' of the U. S. economy. Data gathered include the number and size of farms, acreage and harvest of crops, livestock inventory, information oa farm quipment and facilities; arm' products sold, and use. of fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides. |
